In this exclusive Fender interview, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell showcases his new Limited Edition Fender Custom Shop Heartbreaker, cloned after his longtime Fender Broadcaster.

"With a blindfold test I might not be able to tell the difference - that’s how close it is," said Campbell.

Led by Master Builder Dale Wilson, the Fender Custom Shop Dream Team worked exhaustively to clone Campbell's original Broadcaster. From the nail scratch on the front of the lower horn to the soldering iron burn near the output jack and the chipped nut, the new signature model is visually and sonically comparable to Campbell’s beloved companion.

You are a great man for your dog rescue as well as your music, which is legendary.. What a legend!

Mike Campbell is a connoisseur of tones and has maybe the best ear in straight-ahead rock.

Mike played some classic licks and guitar parts that just fit like a glove for the songs he played on. A true SESSION player not a million note speed burner which to me is a true guitar artist!

His singer wanted to play guitar, so he gave him the only one he had. That tells you pretty much all you need to know about what a decent guy Mike Campbell is.

One of the most under rated guitarists in history, I hope he gets a blues band together and tours.

Mike always seems to get lucky with "getting a real good guitar that day". His 12 string Rickenbacker (on the cover of Damn the Torpedoes) was the next one made after George Harrison's.

Must be so cool and surreal to have your #1 remade to the last hairline scratch like that. What an honor! Incredible tone/player

One of favorite players. Had a 50’s Telecaster let it slip through my hands - Mike is amazing to see in concert

I like that he can actually explain what the charity is where others just say "oh yea, it's a great cause",

Such a great man to do so much to help the fur babies and such a great guitarist and just a all around great guy. I'm still feeling the loss of his brother in music and one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all times Tom Petty who gave so much of his own credit to you Mike Campbell. You truly are one of the best and with such a big heart of a man. Happy to hear that you will be with another great Heartbreaker Stevie Nick's in place of you know who and I know you will make that band sound great also. Thanks Fender for honoring Mike with this guitar, you guys are the best. ~~~ Ricky ~~~

Love, admire and cherish him before he is gone

Great guitarist. His work is everywhere. Most of the Don Henley solo albums have Mike Campbell all over them.

Nice guitar. Nice amp. Nice playing. Nice charity. Sometime it's nice to see the glass half full ...

My very first guitar was a 1954 Stratocaster under the Christmas tree in 1963. Beat to hell, fretboard pitted, the nut had three chewing gum wrappers in different slots, ciggy burn on the headstock ... when you've been around a while and you've seen the originals with the real wear, you come to appreciate even the fake stuff ... there's a magic there that exists no where else.

Nothing beats a butterscotch or blond tele with a maple neck. I have a simple MIM tele and love it. Classic and fits like a glove

‘Breakdown’ was the first track that introduced Tom Petty in the UK 1976 and as soon as I hear that riff I stop and listen.
