The Telegraph Trail (1933) #WarnerArchive #WarnerBros #TheTelegraphTrail

In 1932 Warner Bros. put tyro star John Wayne through his paces in a series of remakes of Ken Maynard silent Western classics, recycling plots and footage in yet another example of Warner Bros. lean mean movie making efficiency. Wayne’s co-star in these films sports a familiar nick-name, too. But he’s a horse! As telegraph transmissions click-clack across the West, tribal drums begin to pound.

Directed By Tenny Wright
Starring John Wayne, Duke, Frank McHugh

Over 6 years and no comments?

Oh well. I always liked John Wayne but I prefer his early movies to his later ones. No matter what decade, they all contained at least a bit of corny-ness but I found him to be more natural and even more realistic in his early ones. No matter what decade though, I have to chuckle at things like the women always wearing hairstyles of the era in which they were made rather than those of the time they were trying to portray. This is true of almost all Hollywood movies.
