On Saturday the installer mounted the ont 1/3 over my metal door jam & the rest in a corner. Every time I close the door the cover falls off. I can put my hand behind it & it’s hanging on by a thread. My hallway walls also have 2 ft. Black streaks from where a ladder damaged them. The two Customer service (they could barely speak English) said they would not relocate it & avoided the walls needing repainting. Never would have thought they were as bad as xfinity. Unbelievable !

Don't do what AT&T did at my house. I just bought a house in a very hot climate. The ONT was installed in the attic. THE ATTIC! I was having connection issues the past few weeks and after checking the ONT's lights, I touched the box and man was it HOT. So hot you could not hold your hand to it. Moved it out of the attic (wires were long enough) to a cooler area. The Internet has been fine. Put it back in the attic and within 12 hours, it was hot and malfunctioning again. And with it being in the attic, I can't put a UPS on it if I wanted too.

I have a council 50 plus bungalow, with 1 sitting room and 1 bedroom. Accessed from 1.5 mt square entrance hall.All fixtures that have lights on them need to be upout of cat reach. I wonder if this was a good idea. All this modernisation seems to bring a stream of new problems.

well, actually the ONT is the modem, the other peace is the wireless gateway or wifi router

In Korea, my job was optical cable connection engineer and I have worked for over 20 years. My dream is to work as an optical cable connection at a chorus company in New Zealand. But I can't speak English at all. Is it possible for me to connect optical cables in New Zealand?I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me how. Yutv, please teach me how to do it.

Companies don't pay for xtra hard work involved leading cable to centre of house.
Tech goes easy install with front room due to easy savings of time but it doesn't worth to cmr.
cmr can put some xtra quids to ask tech to lead his cable to corridor or centre of house.
Cos modem will be good benefitting from here

Why can't the fibre cable go directly to the hub instead of going into a crappy cable before it connects to the hub itself.

It looks a simple thing to be installed but the reality is that the cx never wants to pay the price to have the cable crossing in front of their houses to reach a specific spot, or drilling internal walls and run this cable internally to reach center point of the house. On 90% of the time they want to avoid any external or internal cable running..

I'm trying to figure out why the ONT is not built into the router/modem or whatever you want to call it - I don't want to have to use 2 power sockets :(

Why are all the ONTs installed at a height below the knee?? Is it not better closest to the ceiling???

Isn’t the ONT already the “MODEM” but for optical cable, therefore, it connects to the routers instead. Vise what he says —ONT to modem?
