Halo is the prime candidate for a military sci-fi, the likes of which we haven’t seen since Stargate or BSG, but they seem to be going another way.

Halo fans: Listen, writers, you have a clear-cut story in which humanity is trying not to get annihilated by an over-powered alien menace. It's simpler than WWII for crying out loud. Just write that. Please, just write that. Yes, humans fight each other too, but that's nuance to add, not the main focus.

This show is the equivilant of ordering an ice cream, and being given a fig newton.

For at lesat 15 years Halo fans have wanted some live-action adaptation. Halo: Landfall was all most of us had for the longest time. Now, I look at that short video, and see that it tells more about the war than the first two hours of the tv show.

At the moment I definitely agree. And unless you're right about the war not truly kicking off yet, it almost seems like from the UNSC side the attitude is "Oh....right, we're at deal with it tuesday".

I don't know about you, but the protagonist chick's logic is actually _flawless:_

- The Covenant is UNSC propaganda.
- The Covenant killed my entire family and friends.
- Therefore, UNSC propaganda killed my fucking family and friends.
- UNSC bad.

The silver timeline- turns out the covenant is just a bunch of zealous raiders that don’t interact with others unless they can be incorporated or raided.
To be honest they’re probably going to make the covenant less of an issue and more about how humanity will destroy itself from the inside while the covenant leap at the opportunity to strike during or near the end of a civil war.

It's non-canon, but the writers forgot that means they need to reintroduce the stakes and not just casually mention them as if we already understood the gravity of the Human-Covenant War. Of course, they COULD'VE done that if they had just done their due diligence and written a story that fits into the canon. Can't have your cake and eat it. And if the war in this show is only a small conflict? Congrats on writing a story with no urgency despite how important it is to "find the halo, win the war".

They don't have the budget for it lmao. This show would be so much better if it was set in 2525, with Chief and the Spartans just starting their career fighting the Innies, as the threat of the Covenant looms in the far background.

I smiled when I saw this in my notifications. It's like there's barely a war going on right now. At this point in the war, Humanity should be at the brink. I thought the show was taking place in 2526, but it's 2552?! WTF?

They just didn't care about the lore.

Halo to me, is the most Beautiful military story I have ever known. Fighting against the fading light, fighting for hope, for a right to exist. I grew up playing the games. Halo 2 was my first video game ever and the stories in the games, the books and especially the story of the Human Covenant war formed the most important franchise to me for the rest of my life... The amount of pain I feel watching my beloved franchise be butchered to such an extent hurts more than I could ever express. We were promised since 2007 that something was coming. That the legendary director Stephen Spielberg was involved the man responsible for several of my favorite movies of all time. We were promised everything. This is what we get... THIS IS WHAT WE GET!?!?!?!?! Naked chief and a girl we could care less about? Where is the war? Where is the hopeless stand of soldiers to buy time for civilian evacuation? Where is the beautiful set pieces that show the brutality of the covenant? A space battle? Soldiers and aliens fighting? A planet being glassed? ANYTHING?!? A animated collection of stories made in 2007 did so much better than this! How is this possible!?!? I understand if this is cringe to you, or if you think I'm being dramatic about a video game. To me its not just a video game. I'm passionate of Halo and have loved this series my whole life. Fuck you Paramount, you didn't deserve the licensing.

Good question, I somehow doubt the writers have any idea. Though their ability to write this hate fiction compared to a coherent story does say a lot.
