Russian troops have created a monster ‘turtle tank’ as they try to thwart Ukrainian drones

Video shows the tank has been completely covered in armour plating and anti-drone wire. It also has a KMT-7 mine plough on the front that is designed to clear minefields. The tank is also likely equipped with advanced jamming equipment to stop the drones. This is not visible in the video but has been attached to similar tanks. More footage from inside the tank shows how the armour restricts the tank’s view. The turret is more or less immobilised and cannot rotate under the armour. And the added weight appears to have slowed the vehicle down to a crawl. However, Ukrainian troops say these tanks have proved surprisingly hard to stop. Russian armoured assault increasingly feature these tanks at the head of columns. This is because Ukraine is running low on artillery shells and anti-tank rockets, which would have relatively little trouble penetrating this kind of armour. And has been replacing these weapons with FPV drones, which are far less destructive but far more accurate meaning they can target the tank’s weakest spots. Russia is also thought to be running low on tanks so is trying to conserve what it has. #russia #ukraine #war

Back to the tank roots. Just like it was 100 years ago.

People can laugh all they want but this is what tanks were designed for initially. They were never designed for tank vs tank battles.

Russia turtletank the real game changer .

Technically its already not a tank but a heavily protected mine clearing vehicle. So the turret is not really important.

Tanks used as they were meant to be. A battering ram against enemy defenses.

They took 3 villages and 1 city with these tanks, they definitely worked against Ukraine defense.

Сначала все смеялись над козырьками (мангалами) на русских танках, а сейчас срочно все страны озаботились над модернизацией своей техники.
Смеется тот, кто смеется последним)

It looks strange, but it doesn't burn like the Abrams, Leopards and Challengers!

There are numerous videos on Telegram showing these tanks working super effectively going deep into Ukraine territory. The BIG point this article fails to mention is that NATO drones cannot seem to even to attack this vehicle because it is bristling with so much electronic wizardry that attacking drones cannot even get close ; they become unresponsive and go off course. The armour is for deflecting shell attacks of course.

Let's be honest - this really looks stupid, but all the tanks in the world are faced with one problem - drones burn any tank, regardless of its protection. So if this works, then perhaps the Abrams in 5 years will look the same.

In general, taking into account the fact that a mine collector is attached to the front of the tank, it looks like a kind of “breakthrough tank”, whose goal is to attract all the attention of the enemies so that its comrades in a more “classical line-up” can fight their way forward.

it was proved very effective and it managed to breakthrough Krasnohorivka. It was protected against drones, that's its biggest advantage.
