Hello from Canada 🇨🇦 😊. I think John Arbon is my favourite brand...I've ordered direct a few times, as not all of their yarns are available here. While watching this episode, I'm actually working on a shawl with Appledore Lace-weight in Quench! I have 2 sweater quantities in Appledore DK, one of which is the colour Pig Snout 😅. I also love their Exmoor for colour-work socks...so cozy. As for allergies....a huge problem in my part of the world is ragweed allergies. The season runs from the end of July to the first frost, generally the beginning of October. I suffered for years...then a friend and I tried a supplement found at health food stores here...Grape Seed Extract sold in capsule form. It's something you have to take daily on a regular basis. You don't get immediate results. Each year for the first couple of years you have less of an allergy problem. What a relief 😌. I may be wrong, but I think it builds up your own histamines (?). Anyway, it's a relatively cheap thing to try (here, at least)...you just have to commit long term to taking a capsule per day, all year round. 😊

Was a delight to hang out a bit! And I say YES to the Golden Knob trellis-cable cardigan – would be so difficult to resist making one in dark green Hangy Down yarn for complementary cheekiness 😂

The golden button will look so good on you. 😍 It's great to see you coming to terms with yourself little by little. It's so right and important to listen to yourself and not the opinion of others. Keep reminding yourself, there are people who love you just the way you are and who will go through thick and thin with you. Keep up the good work and be proud of yourself! 😘

What a wonderful selection of yarn you have.

I went to the Riverknits open day a few weeks back (as it’s not too far from me). It was a really lovely and not too big (thankfully). It’s on an old old industrial estate. A river, swans, baby swans. And imagine my husbands delight when we spotted the micro brewery round the corner was open. He enjoyed beer and I enjoyed yarn. And my little one loved the motorbikes and wildlife.

I’d recommend it for all the family for a day trip out for next year. Just down the road is a play park to. 😊

A great video, and some lovely yarn purchases too. Love the new sweater and think a cardigan in Golden Knob would be fantastic!

If you're not familiar with it, Louise Scollay used to do an audio podcast and blog called Knit British which she later renamed WoolWork. She's on an indefinite hiatus but both still exist and among other things include a British breeds KAL where each podcast she would focus on the characteristics of a particular British breed and invite people to find and spin/crochet/knit swatches with wool from that sheep and compare notes. She has interviews and mill tours with Jamiesons of Shetland, Uist, Blacker, John Arbon, Jamiesons and Smith, but mostly she talks about wool and sheep and knitting and was absolutely lovely to listen to.

Thanks for this lovely video about John Arbon, Laura 😊 I think the „potato yarn“ would be great for mittens. Or for a cowl. Maybe even with the same pattern as your Appledore sweater …😉

I'll cuddle your yarn for you Laura! If that's not a weird thing to say!!! I love the idea of a deep v-neck, perhaps with integrated pockets? Thank you for another lovely video, very inspiring. So happy that you had a great time, you sound very re-energised, even though it was a long way from the Midlands

This was so much fun! For some relief to your eyes, I use ocusoft plus lid wipes, they have an allergy version that I think would help, it is very soothing ❤ I hope you can find it!

Thank you! I knew I couldn’t be the only weirdo who loves comfy cozy socks - in the house but not in shoes! It feels so weird!

The second colour is stunning, like grenadine. A Shirley Temple. For the chartreuse yarn, try looking at coleus leaves for inspiration.

Hi, Laura. I love the design of your Appledore sweater. I like all the yarn that you bought at John Arbon’s.
