Why are some filaments in silver bags? #Shorts

Why are some 3D printing filaments packed in silver bags and some only in normal transparent vacuum bags?

Some are also reactive to uv light and such so its to protect them from harsh light. All depends on the material.

I always thought it was cause polypropylene and nylon were degraded from uv light that is why they use the mylar bags.

Although yes it does help with moisture, the main reason is UV, nylon and PA degrade with UV radiation much more than other plastics

I find the ones in the silver bags retain their taste for longer.

So once you crack the spool of Nylon open, if you don't use it all up in that print session, what is the best way to store it? I feel another #short coming on. 🙂
