Wendall should talk about them also working to support linux and their community pages. My next personal laptop purchase will be a framework laptop

I really hope that framework will open an EU store soon for the EU tinkerers who want to buy one of these interesting products...

This is what we urgently need: an open standard for the mechanical/thermal/electrical interface specs of modular components especially motherboard and body but also batteries, screens, keyboard. Like we have already for ITX case & motherboard, PCIe slots and cards, SO-DIMM memory, NVME M.2 interface. Let laptop become the new desktop pc.

One thing they should really push on their marketing is the green aspect of it. This laptop would have a ton less e-waste than traditional laptops over the same time period, since you can upgrade everything.

Good to see more coverage of this laptop! The repairability/upgradability needs to be the future of laptops, and ideally cell phones.

I've just ordered the DIY version of this with the i5 processor. I'm long overdue for a new laptop, and I'm glad to support this company. I'll install 32GB (2x16) and a 1TB SSD. For the bare metal OS I'm going to try Qubes. Should be fun!

I can confirm stairs are more dangerous than laptop repair. I've never broken my ankle while repairing a laptop.

Mine should be shipping in just a few days! So excited! I didn't really need a new laptop all that much but when I saw this company addressing all the anti consumer practices of manufacturers that I've been ranting about for years I figured I needed to put my money where my mouth is and support them.

Fingers crossed, it'll turn up in Europe/ UK soon 😊

This is phenomenal! It addresses the very reasons I've avoided buying laptops in recent years. I am really excited for this. And I'm really excited that some of the most trusted names in the tech industry are speaking highly of it.

I'm very open to pre-ordering one of these as soon as that option becomes available where I live (Australia).

I've been waiting for this... but maybe it will be a gift as I just upgraded my 2015 laptop... New battery, a second stick of RAM and a SATA m.2... But that's all I can upgrade on it. I bought it to have something while deployed and it survived some blowing dust and 60°C sun. After 7 years, the battery stopped holding its charge and I bought it with a HDD but noticed it had an empty m.2 slot, huge upgrade there! And also, luckily for me, it came with a single 8GB RAM but a vacant second slot, so I found another for 16GB...so now it runs great and I've breathed new life into it.

I clicked for the thumbnail alone with no interest in laptops. Bless you Wendel.

This is definitly the laptop I get when I want to upgrade... If they come to my region (because of the French layout keyboard, I'm too used to it to change).
I was pleasantly surprised that colleagues not really aware of right to repair related subject were interested or even excited, notably thanks to those swappable ports (I love em too).

I really, really wish them a big success.
If it works, it could really brings change to the industry.

I recommend these to anyone asking me about a new laptop. If I can't fix my current laptop when it dies, I will be getting one of these.

I wish all manufactures would make their devices more repairable... I don't want the extreme but screws/sockets would be nicer than all glued together things.

Also for the people complaining about thinness, this laptop is nearly identical to a macbook.
