Me trying to convince myself that I dont need to spend the extra money on a 17 inch screen

Sadly the only 17" you had is a freaking thick monster, Hardly equivalent to modern lighter and thinner 17" laptops...

I have been torn between 15" and 17". I think your video really helped me decide that a 15" is right for me. Thanks!

15.6 inches is the sweatspot for portability and visuals.

Good points. I prefer the 17 inch screen for gaming and only needing to move it around 2-3 times a month is not so bad. If I were not going to use the screen of the laptop very often and hook it up to an external the 15 would be perfect.

The newer 17’s are slimmer, and lighter. He had old school laptops.

Many manufacturers are making 13.5” and 14” models now, which is great. I think 13.5 with a very thin bezel is the perfect compromise.

I like your reviews and I liked this one too.

I am a 17" screen fan. I like larger laptops because of the screen real estate, they are more airy so cooling them is not too much of a problem. The battery is larger and the keyboard spacious. I've used 13", 14", 15" and 17" laptops for work and home use and I keep returning to 17". I own an Alienware 17 R4, and an HP Pavilion laptop (15"). But I don't find my Alienware to be as heavy as it is portrayed. Maybe I am used to its weight but I don't mind lugging it around with its power brick and some accessories in a backpack. Once the commute is over, it's a sheer joy to work on a large screen and photo/video editing becomes so much easier.

Thanks man. I’ve been on the fence as to whether I should get a 15” or a 17” but I think the 17” is gonna be too large and heavy for me. My old laptop was a 15” and it worked great.

Glad I came across this video. Just got new laptop. Went from 13 to 15. Super glad I made the choice! Seeing this helps out ALOT!!! I struggle with reading already being dyslexic and small screen doesn't help.

I bought a 17' Gaming laptop last week. Main reason is i have no space for a permanent desk for a pc.
I also love the portability. Bannerlord on i7 10750H RTX 2060 is a dream!!!

Thank you! I was trying very hard on what laptop I should buy, Small, but not too small, and conveniently portable! Now I know what I want! 15 inch.

The purpose of 17" laptops is for people who, despite not carrying the laptop around all day for use on the go (as the 13" and 15" crowd typically does), still frequently need to transport their PC from location A to location B or C even if on a weekly basis or monthly basis. You basically put it in a case, shove it in the trunk of your car, and take it with you to spend a few days on the other location and then come back after a few days with it. This is the actual concept of a desktop replacement laptop. If laptops were not to be moved from home at all, then a laptop makes no sense and you should get a desktop, otherwise you get only disadvantages and none of the portability advantages that come with laptops. The sole reason for 13" laptops is for people who can't stand the weight/size of a 15" laptop. And the reason for 15" laptop is for people who can't stand the 13"'s small screen/keyboard of 13 inch for productivity. The 17" is for people who are not ready to make any concessions as far screen experience goes when going portable and who are willing to bear the extra weight/size - but this usually means that you're not lugging it around all day in a bag or backpack (that is mostly 13" and 15" territory)

17.3 inch is my personal favorite.
The larger screen makes it easier for me to work on for a long period of time and it makes the best use of a high res display.

After having all 3, I'd say it depends on the type of user you are. 13 is good if you just need something for basic computer work (documents, browsing, streaming), where you don't plan to sit for too long. The weight savings makes a difference if you have to walk long distances.

But 17 on the other hand, can provide for a solid mobile-stationary workstation. It's big enough where your eyes won't get strained if you plan on sitting for extended periods of time, doing more intense cpu work (video editing, gaming, coding, heavy multitasking.)

As for 15 (the most mass produced size), I believe it's a good all arounder. I just never found it to be satisfying. The weight isn't much different from a 17, and I find the 17's have better cooling due to the extra surface area. Only strong point is the price point of the 15. It's the better option on terms of budget.

This was very helpful thank you! 15 is where I went, and this has helped me feel my choice was correct.
