My Trailblazer's check engine code P0455 popped up recently. In this video I remove and replace the Purge Control Valve (Purge Solenoid) and the Vent Control Valve (Vent Solenoid) in the EVAP system. I also try to explain the cause of the code, as well as testing methods. Part number 214-2246 and CPC1007.

Best vid on this repair. Thank you for posting and placing the cam exactly where we can see the parts. 🙏🏽

Great video! Critical info! Thanks so much! I'm about to do the same thing on a Trailblazer I'm working on.

Love those OSHA approved crocs! Seemed like a straight forward fix. Gotta love the one's that don't fight you the whole time. My expedition has been killing me with the EGR system lately.

Take wheel off helps. You can reach through driver wheel well. Had to for crank sensor there

You can test the purge valve to see if it is stuck open or not. Remove the 10mm bolt holding the purge valve bracket to the engine block. Then move it out for easier access to the hose clips. Remove the rear hose by squeezing the clip on both sides and sliding the hose off. Start your motor and put your finger over the rear hose inlet you just removed. If it is trying to suck your finger into the valve it's stuck open and needs to be replaced. If there's no suction, then it's still good and you can reassemble it. Then you can move on to check for the vent valve being stuck or something else leaking. If your fuel filler tube is badly rusted. It might have air leaks at the any of the connections or through any of the rust deposits. Rule out one thing at a time for leaks. And if you run out of patience get hammered and come back to it the next day 😂

I triggered the EVAP code after I did my undercoating with 4 lbs of pure gum turpentine and 4 lbs of wax. hahahaha. I probably covered up the vent valve - after I cleared the code it didn't come back. I'll take a look again. thanks for the vid - too bad my FailBlazer t-shirt got worn out so fast!! I'm at 292, 000.

I was told if the vent solenoid was bad, it makes it tough to pump fuel in.

Did you have gas smell before fixing ?

Wish you had shown where the charcoal canister was

Out of the two which is the most likely culprit? I disconnected the battery, didn't help. Gas mileage is 20 which I'm happy with. Code says it's evap system, Envoy runs like a clock 140K miles. So far I'm ignoring it.

For anyone wondering how to properly get the coupling closest to the front of the cehicle off there is a push clip on the backside of the coupler. Push in the solenoid and push up on the little plastic piece. It comes right off

Is it necessary to change both Parts as you did? Or can I only change the purge valve?

I did this repair a month ago the check engine light was gone for a solid month until today. So I have no idea what the problem could be now 😊
