This shows how to use the Pac-Man hiding spot. You can enter the spot at any time as long as you come from the bottom and the ghosts' eyes are not looking at Pac-Man. When there, keep looking up. The ghosts will not be able to get to Pac-Man while he is there AND he does not move. There are 2 patterns included that you could use at the beginning of a level. The first one is for most levels while the second one is only for the Strawberry level. Also included is the 9th key pattern that ends with the hiding spot. There is no time limit for Pac-Man to stay in the hiding spot (such as 18 minutes). You can put him there, take a nap and come back tomorrow if you would like.

This hiding spot is used by players that utilize grouping. The player uses the supplied pattern and then goes into the hiding spot. He then waits for about 90 seconds before the ghosts have gone through their scatter and chase sequences. After that, the player will bring Pac-Man out and does not have to worry about the ghosts' reversing direction on him. It also can be used if you need a potty break. Keep in mind for tournament play, there are usually rules against using these hiding spots. A common rule is one can only use this spot for 5 minutes per hour. This does interfere with a player who groups as he uses that 5 minutes up in just 3 1/2 levels.

One more note: You can enter the hiding spot from the right (east). You do not have to enter from the bottom (south). However, no ghost can see you enter, and you must rest facing up. This is a tough thing to do. So, it's just better to enter from the bottom.
