Complex Borderline Personality Disorder: How Coexisting Conditions Affect Your BPD and How You Can Gain Emotional Balance. Available at:

In this video, we're going to discuss the reasons why you keep secrets from your therapist. We'll explore why you fear and doubt your safety, and how this fear and doubt creates barriers to your therapy.

We'll also talk about the truth, and why you need to be open with your therapists about your struggles. If we're not open with our therapists, we run the risk of hiding our true feelings and limiting our therapy sessions. By discussing these reasons, you can open up the lines of communication and build trust in your therapy relationship.

So true! Can you please make a video about BPD and the inability to take care of ourselves in all aspects of life (health, diet, medication, exercise, sleep, social life, self-care etc). Thanks a lot for all you do!

Therapy is not always an open or safe environment. Psychology in general has real dangers and consequences. You can lose certain careers for example with certain diagnosis. Parents can face consequences or be over ruled by a doctor. There are many valid reasons to have a healthy boundary with psyche professionals.

I agree.. we need to be very open about everything to be able to cross that wall. I will share this with a friend who may be in the bpd spectrum. Thanks Dr. Fox.❤

I definitely hold back with mine...not just because she is new to me, but because she is female...I don't understand this at all...I tend to feel more comfortable being open with male therapists...any idea why this could be? (I'm a straight and married female)

The therapist I trusted the most eventually ghosted me after seeing me as anything other than some idealised non-entity. After many situations in my life, it reinforces the idea that anyone who sees any part of the real human self will abandon me. I have now totally isolated myself from society and people and let absolutely no one in.

I have in past not been able to speak up to my therapist but also this does have something to do with my family past of "whats said and done in the home, stays in the home." I have gotten in trouble for sliping and speaking up. This is hard to break it.

I never had a problem with sharing until I was judged. Devastating.

I would only share my secrets with some one I trust 100% and I don't trust any one 100%...especially therapists.

I automatically assumed my therapist wouldn't like me or take anything I say seriously and I thought she would be automatically hostile to me because its me, turns out we clicked and talking to her for an hour feels like it's only been 5 minutes. I have previously kept things from her though but I'm learning to trust a bit now as time goes on
