We almost had BOOMco. PRO

BOOMco. was a competitor to NERF in the mid 2010s, and a pretty good one at that. Forgoing the standard Foam Darts we all know and tolerate, the BOOMco. dart was special because of it's straw-plastic body design and squishy dart head that stuck to smart stick targets, making them incredibly stable and accurate in flight that won the hearts of more than a few in the ecosystem. However, the brand struggled to pick a lane to market to and had it's ups and downs before quietly disappearing after releasing a bunch of insanely cool Halo themed blasters far before NERF did. In 2024, a potential Pitch Deck was discovered online that features what appears to be the Concept of BOOMco. PRO, a line that aimed for higher performance and more industrial designs that could have changed the entire landscape of outdoor blasters forever, far before Dart Zone attempted with the Adventure Force Nexus Pro.

Now that this info is out there. I have family that works at corporate Mattel. I was given a VERY early concept version of one of these. It was basically just one of their cheaper more basic blasters shells with upgraded internals. Long story short I was asked to give my opinion on it and I told them that I loved it that the concept was great and there was definitely market for it. But my biggest Gripe against the line was the darts while technically they are generally better darts in almost every way, because Nerf has the market cornered for dart blasters if your dart does not fit a Nerf blaster, your line will die. Also, this was before half length darts became the hobby standard and I was worried about how hard those non-foam darts were hitting compared to full length darts. I was kind of concerned that it was leaning a little too paintball versus dart blaster.

LOL, that ending was perfect. Man, I miss BoomCo. Their Halo blasters are still some of my favorite to this day.

the realization at the end that nerf is strutting down boomco's path into irrelevance at the end..

I still have my rapid madness and its still one of my favorite blasters ever made.

Boomco darts make a popping sound when they land on hardwood floor, it's such a satisfying thing especially with a high rate of fire

Fun fact! one of the first mods Walcom publically did was the Whip messenger, a boomco Whipblast and a Rebelle messenger combined together!
I called it the revolver ocelot.

The sniper was actually featured in a patent somewhere. The priming action would have actually involved the entire motion - pulling back compresses the spring partway, and the return does the other half. Or something like that.

Let's not forget that everytime the boomCo darts fall on the ground, they sound like empty bullet shells.

Damn it, I miss BoomCo.

Crazy to think about how long its been since BoomCo's been around, I remember going to Toys R Us to find some of them (which has also mostly gone the way of the dodo). These concepts are really sweet though and give me Borderlands Hyperion weapon vibes, with the color scheme and especially the sniper's design

Oh, what we could have had!

That outro reminds me of a company. I just can't put my finger on it....

Seeing concepts, unreleased stuff and old blasters is awesome to preserve the history of the hobby.

Boomco was definitely ahead of its time. It's a real shame that these didn't see the light of day!! (If real)

You're kidding. We almost had WHAT!? Boomco made some of my favorite blasters and I almost have a complete halo collection. What I would give for more Boomco.

SHOT GUN!
Also I think it would be cool it Nerf did a shotgun line, like they would use Nerf Hyper, Mega, and Rival as different shotgun ammunition.
Hyper would act as birdshot, Rival as buckshot, and Mega as a slug. Except, you know, they could also make higher quality blasters along with it.
Just and idea, I loved the video by the way! ❤

The Burst wave was the tits! Lots of power in a 3 shot blast. And if it was single that was a beast with 3 rotating barrels. The only problem I ever had with boomco was the dart head. At high power they were essentially an FVJ. I still have a shirt that has circles knocked out of it from a tuned up boomco.
