Fractal FM3: Eric Johnson Clean & Lead Tones

This is my humble recreation of EJ’s live clean & lead tones. I think the two sounds are similar to his tones on Venus Isle as well. There is no post processing, it’s my Fender EJ Strat into the FM3 straight into Cubase via USB.

Most of the settings were adopted through EJ’s Premier guitar rig rundown interviews in conjunction with Yek’s PDF Amp & Drive Block guides.

Below is a brief overview of the amps and effects used:

Clean:

Amp: Fender Silverface Twin Reverb (Bright switch on)
Cabs: 4x12 D120 & 2x12 EJ1250 (panned hard L & R)
Analog Chorus
Mono Digital Delay
South Church Reverb

Lead:
Amp: Plexi 100W Jump
4 Knob Tube Driver
Cabs: 2x12 EJ1250 & 4x12 Brit 80s R121 (Blended)
Parametric EQ (low cut at 100K & high cut at about 6K)
Mono digital delay
South church reverb
Enhance: Modern Setting

Tone-wise, the clean sounds spot-on! But timbre-wise, it could do with a touch more gain - bit more 'hair', as they say.
