New Zealand pipit - New Zealand Bird of the Week

New Zealand pipits are small, unassuming birds at first glance, that prefer New Zealand's more open environments like beaches, forest edges and grasslands, which has both helped and hindered them with the arrival of people. I hope you enjoy.

How cute! I'd love to travel to New Zealand to observe the wildlife there myself, but for now I'll settle for Australian fauna 😊.

Hi Henry, thinking about this series on new zealand birds I had an idea, will you do a video on the enigmatic Saint Bathan's mammal and the fauna from that formation? I feel like you're the perfect channel to cover this topic

I saw one of these in the 80s, in the dry sand back from the beach at Muriwai. I am presuming so because it had long legs and was definitely not a sparrow or thrush.

These guys are so friendly irl. I thought I'd come across a hand-reared song thrush first time I saw one.

In South East Asia, pipit is what we call the local sparrows.
