Another hack while doing this, for Molasses or Honey and other such sticky stuff, lightly spray your measuring spoon/cup with Pam/cooking spray. Then put the sticky stuff in it and it will sliiiide right out if you don't let it linger too long.

Save a step. Just add the sugar to your other ingredients, then add your molasses, according to how dark you want it.

Hon, that's how brown sugar, light and dark, is made in factories. They just use a really big bowl known as a vat, rofl. I was lucky, my grandpa made all of that stuff. He raised his own sugar cane and made his own sugar and molasses.
