Hazard Alert System Prototype

ODOT has a fleet of around 50 tractor mowers that mow along hundreds of miles of highway. Mowers are often damaged by hidden objects in the grass. To reduce damage and increase safety, ODOT is working on technology that will help alert operations to these hazards that lay hidden. It is called the Hazard Alert System or HAS. The HAS system is in the early stages of development and testing, but we are hopeful that this technology with future development will someday be deployed in our fleet.
