Have the avata and today I paired the goggle to my mini 3 pro and was chuffed to see option for the Air 3 too… I intend to try these over next couple of weeks… now as to the Avata, I’m in love with all the fun I’m having with it, crashes and all.. I love the cinematic shots I get from my min 3 pro and my Mavic Air 3, but just the fun of pretending to be a pilot of iron man and flying round everywhere is brilliant.. now if only the sd card and usb port were better positioned then it’d almost be perfect

What's nice about Avata is it's miniature but robust construction that can prevent substantial damage in a crash. The propeller/guards configuration, I prefer to think as multi blade ducted fans that improve the propulsive efficiency. Because of their smaller diameter, these fans requires a higher revolution as in a large 'Turbo Fan' aircraft which explains the hi frequency whine of this drone. It also provides better protection in a crash than the smaller DJI models. The structure around the camera (gimbal) is somewhat like a protective cage...nice!
With no screen mounted to the controller but a head mounted goggle puts you in the pilot seat!
It's immersive, intuitive.. the ultimate in drone technology! This I should think also excludes the annoying glare of bright sunlight. What would be a great safety feature is the addition of 360° obstacle avoidance sensors. No it would not be active in "manual" for those who dare to push the flight envelope of this drone.

The flight agility is amazing to watch...responsive & nimble! The specs. & menu option are many...impressive!
Avata is a drone that can if required be flight docile or flown aggressively which certainly has an appeal to both newbies & advanced drone pilots. It's like granny driving a Formula 1 in the city but a ferocious beast on the race track!

The disadvantage?
Governments see opportunity for $$$! Inescapable! Unlike drones weighing under 250 grams, this drone weighs in at 450 grams & requires the operator hold a drone licence with recurrent tests. This means paperwork, exams, fees...a forever headache! Could they have been more liberal with the weight restrictions? Absolutely in my opinion!
Although cheaper than high end DJI models, Avata price is likely outside the budget of most would be drone enthousiasts. A matter of choice versus budget!

Good luck!

Hey Darren, I may have just joined the more "serious" drone flying family at the exact right time, but my 1st drone was miniPro 3 and then they released the Avata shortly after and I got it soon as it was released. I love them both but as you have perfectly stated many times, , they are different and perfect for different situations. Love them both, , for different reasons in different situations. Love the channel and thank you for all the time you take for all of us to learn from each other and ultimately HAVE FUN!! Thanks bro

Cheers for the video mate, I'm going to sub (already left a like), because you're the only one I have found that does a review after 6 months. I found that so many times you buy something, love it initially then end up not using it or buying something else. Much appreciated, thank you.

I've been having a blast flying my Mini 3 Pro here in New Hampshire and it is the middle of the winter. I'm sure I will pick up an Avata at some point to do some cool mountain bike chase shots. Great video Darren!

Great video and review as always. Here are somethings I'd personally like to add if it may help. I've had my Avata since launch, however DJI not having the Fpv controller available was a very big inconvenience. I ordered the controller in September and kept delaying the delivery until January before I canceled and bought a used one. Since Remote ID was implemented here in the states, you have to have your phone connected to the Googles. Silly enough, you even can't even turn off your phones screen without an error. And its a little cumbersome if you have a bigger nose while trying to wear the Goggles 2. DJI should have interchangeable pads for the Goggles 2. Again thanks for the review, but hopefully this may help others that may be having issues. It's a great drone.

Strongly agree with using the goggles on a Mavic 3!

I've got the dji fpv and I'm blown away with it's power and control

Would love for you to raise awareness (if possible) to the fact that DJI doesn't sell replacement parts for the DJI Goggles. Lost your dettachable antennas? Too bad! No one sells them!

Great video, very well put together. Now we are at the six month mark do you think it might be worth waiting to see what the next version has to offer? I assume the next Avata will have even more flight time that 18 min (10). Also that bit where your daughter was like ‘Jesus Dad!’ made me laugh 😂

As a camera drone owner, I don't understand the complaints about size. Once a drone doesn't fit in your pocket, it doesn't matter. You're taking a bag/case/backpack with you. Is it really a big deal if the bag is a few inches thicker?

Great video.

I'm seriously concerned about my drone addiction.

Thank you for the video. I’m a newbie droner. I have the Mavic air 2 and really enjoying it. I was hoping for goggles for my drone. I really want the experience of the FPV. I think i should keep my air 2 and just dive in and purchase this Avata. I don’t care about the noise factor if I’m flying it

I would love the DJI avata with a controller like the one mini 4 pro with the built in screen

I haven't flown my Avata for a few months. Weather hasn't been the best, but also been pretty busy. I do need to go fly it. Manual Mode is a bunch of fun. I have replaced one Avata so far, due to doing a flip over a tree and not realizing how fast I was coming down ended up bottoming out into dirt and absolutely destroying my whole bottom sensor setup completely. It was pretty useless and didn't want to fly right at all, because the sensor couldn't figure out what the hell was happening. I spent a bunch of hours practicing in LiftOff and I really enjoy that app. The DJI APP that you use with the Goggles 2, kind of sucks! I do wish I could use LiftOff with my DJI Goggles 2! Now that would be super duper awesome sauce!

Actually easier to crash with the joystick remote as it's easier to commit a mistake. Fpv flyers usually already have experience with flying other drones/ dji drones. My recommendation is to get the fpv remote
