Masonry Concrete Block Tornado Safe Rooms

Показать описание
A concrete block or masonry tornado safe room is reinforced by fully grouting the cells of the block and reinforcing them with vertical rebar. Concrete masonry is made in a variety of textures and finishes providing many options for complementing the look of new or existing construction.

Most people in these comments obviously didn't listen to anything the guy said. The blocks are not just stacked... they are connected with rebar and concrete.

In Guam, all our houses are built like this. Guam is in a typhoon/hurricane prone area in the Pacific. In this part of the world, we call it a typhoon. Our last storm: Super Typhoon Mawar reached sustained winds of 140mph and gusts up of 160mph. And houses built like this stand up to these kinds of winds.

Of course they failed to mention the tornado proof ceiling that goes with these tornado proof walls. I guess StrongHomes doesn't have an editor.

Use bond beam block to build the whole thing, horizontal and vertical rebar every course and column. Foot thick roof and walls poured at same time..

Bond beam block so you get more concrete and rebar

I think I'd probably design it as a large pantry since all his suggestions I'd prefer natural light. And bonus you're held up with the snack.

why does it make sense to build houses out of wood in tornado country?

I would line inside with steel plating.. for safety

Or a better Idea - build your whole house out of these blocks for about half the price of a normal build, and have it last longer, and be safer. Mind blown.

But the question is will it stand against a violent ef4+ tornado?

It is so rare to see this for a Mexican like me, in Mexico all the houses are made of masonry we do not need something like a "safe room"

Weld the outside of this with ¼ inch metal for wind deflecting

The master bedroom should always be this type of room, or one of the bedrooms.

Cheapest way is to build a hobbit style house into the side of a hill. Tornado and hail proof and very energy efficient.

I live in Australia and my whole house is built like this to withstand a category 5 cyclone.

$8, 000 - $9, 500 price range per build. What is your life & family worth? Simply put this addition in by applying for a building permit with the County.

THE BEST SOLUTION IS BUILD A HOUSE 100% WITH CONCRETE.

AND U NEVER WILL REBUILD UR HOME AGAIN.

OBVIUSLLY.

no. unless it's deep underground, this will crumble on top of you. entire strong built buildings have fallen to the ground, entire towns leveled, but you think this thing will save you? would like to see how it survives a truck thrown at it with wind speed of 150 mph.
