My daughter is working pt at our local home depot. She's only been there since June. She said they're cutting hours like it's November. The staff that's been there for longer told her that they haven't seen this so early in the year before

I’m a contractor in Oregon and when prices of lumber went so high and we were being told there was a shortage, I could drive by lumber mills with their yards absolutely filled and high stacks of units. I talked with a truck driver who delivers lumber and he said there was more at overflow storage yards. He said mills were holding onto inventory so prices would keep going up. I also talked with a guy that supplied mills with operating equipment and supplies and he said the same thing.

I bought a bunch of Cedar for a fence and 2 x 4's the other day, so I'm glad the prices came down. As an old retired carpenter, this isn't good. The price needs to be stable for people to give a fair bid on building projects. It must be a nightmare for contractors!😢

Haven’t bought lumber in over two years. Purchased a Frontier OS 31 sawmill and said goodbye to crappy ass Lumber.
The sawmill also provides some income

I think it's time to make it more appealing for potential buyers. Real estate can be quite the rollercoaster! the stress and uncertainty are getting to me. I think I'll cut rents to attract potential buyers and exit the market, but i'm at crossroads if to allocate the entire $680k liquidity value to my stock portfolio?

Stayed the same here in East Texas. Needle has not moved on lumber yet.

I was in Home Depot Amherst Ny two days ago. The lumber prices are still high. But then again, I still have decades old pricing set in my head.

It's getting gnarly here in Texas. I live about 2.5 hours north of Austin, TX.

I was in Austin yesterday for a business meeting. One of the topics of our conversation was the abandoned subdivision in South Austin called Southstone. It's attracting transients and criminals affecting neighborhoods surrounding the abandoned subdivision.

I remember seeing a lot of those half-built homes in CA from the last crash. I used to travel to CA a lot due to being in the tech industry.

It's unfortunate that this it happening here in Texas. We didn't have this in the last crash.

It is difficult to make exact projections for the housing market as it is still unclear how quickly or to what degree the Federal Reserve will reduce inflation and borrowing costs without having a substantial negative impact on demand from consumers for anything from houses to cars.
