I don’t think I’ve seen anyone know more about the intricacies of Ancient Rhome than this guy.

Can’t decide what’s more impressive: the fact that Romans made armor out of glue and linen, or that I can barely fix a paper cut with a Band-Aid.

I wonder if they used anything to retard mold? Or if the armor started to smell as it (inevitably) decayed? Would it be less apt to chafe than metal armor, but more likely to cause infection?

I'm guessing they had solutions to decay and microbes: alcohol perhaps? Heating with rocks from a fire? Could they be used for some kind of pillow?

More questions!

This episode aroused my interest so much that I finished yesterday by watching an old movie from the 60s starring Sophia Loren, the film entitled The Fall of the Roman Empire.

Crazy if you compare Roman armor to modern Africa clothes

So interesting, I don't understand why there are many who deny the existence of the linothorax. Nothing about it seems unlikely.

I think later on, armor did get standardized. But early on, that wasn't the case.

I wonder if Alexander’s armor was also made by his mother 😢

Let's be honest the "lorica segmentata" is extremely overrated.

Is was NOT a good armour.
But it was fast to be produced since all you had to do was produce sheets of metal.. But was not cost-effective and was hard to maintain.
Ence why it was phased put in a century..

Chainmail is way cheaper and easier to mantain..squamata is a bit more difficult to be made but is way more protective

Also the Late Empire uniforms are *chef kiss*.. go look at the uniform of the late empire and early medieval Roman period and than go back to the sad lorica hamata..
Which one is poggers?
