The History of: Blue Sky Studios

In a previous video, I focused on Sony Pictures Animation, and that made me interested in doing other videos about other animation companies.
When you think of Blue Sky, you either don’t know what the studio does, or you’re immediately thinking of Scrat the Squirrel from Ice Age. But this production house is actually quite important to the past, and continues to make solid films in the present.

Disney has shuttered Blue Sky Studios as of February 2021.

I agree, Blue Sky is an underrated studio; I love the first two Ice Age films and The Peanuts Movie, I liked Robots and Horton Hears a Who, and even if I don't think they're the best, I admire the effort placed into Epic and Rio 1. The only pitfalls in the studio's track record so far are Ice Age: Continental Drift and Collision Course, those were dumpster fires.

Aside from those lackluster sequels (including Ice Age 3 and Rio 2, which were mediocre), I don't quite understand what causes Blue Sky to go under the radar; most either forget about their existence, or categorize them as a Dreamworks-clone studio. I'd argue that they might have a better track record than Dreamworks (TOO. MANY. BLAND. COMEDIES.) and possibly other non-Disney competitors like Sony and Illumination.

i love blu.sky as much as I love Pixar and Disney and DreamWorks I love all those Studios and I love Sony

well i think blue sky is a very special animation studio aside for the recent ice age sequels there movies still hold up and are very beautiful to watch for example: the rio movies Epic and The peanuts movie

I'm not a fan of Blue Sky, I personally find them as rather bland, but I'd be dammed if they didn't do a phenomenal job on The Peanuts Movie.

speaking of which ice age is one of blue sky's highest grossing animated films along with rio.and the ice age movies (except collision course 2016) did so well in the box office, it's like a goldmine for blue sky studios. althought they had very mixed reviews from the critics. (no doubt about that)
