The EV6 GT raises the threshold of performance for the already potent EV6 lineup, with a dual-motor e-AWD powertrain that sends power to all four wheels. An energy-dense 77.4-kWh Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese (80/10/10) battery pack serves a front-mounted 160kW motor, combined with a rear-mounted 270kW motor, to produce a combined power output of 430 kW (576 hp) and 546 lb.-ft. of torque. The EV6 GT accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, and top speed rises to 161 mph. In independent testing performed by leading third party AMCI, the EV6 GT out-accelerated a Ferrari Roma and Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder RWD.

The performance upgrades that define the EV6 GT also include a dedicated sport suspension with electronically controlled dampers and unique front suspension performance components. Dynamic damping control offers sporty handling and a balanced, comfortable ride. Traction and stability are enhanced by an electronic Limited Slip Differential (e-LSD) when cornering, by directing torque to the wheels with most grip. Larger ventilated front (15-inch) and rear (14.2) disc brakes with monoblock calipers are standard. Z-rated Goodyear Eagle F1 tires fitted with 21-inch alloy wheels are also standard on the EV6 GT.

The EV6 GT introduces GT Drive Mode, My Drive Mode, and Drift Mode, in addition to the Eco, Normal, Sport, and Snow drive modes offered on other EV6 models. With the push of a button on the steering wheel, GT Drive Mode optimizes the performance of the EV6 GT’s motors, braking, steering, suspension, e-LSD, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) systems into their most dynamic settings. Drivers can also create custom-tailored settings to suit individual driving preferences using My Drive Mode. For an even more controllable driving experience, selectable Drift Mode allows drivers to distribute power to the rear wheels. Two additional sounds unique to the EV6 GT join the roster of customizable Active Sound Design options.

The EV6 GT benefits from the ability to recharge at a rate similar to its eye-opening acceleration. It features 800V fast charging capabilities, which enables drivers to replenish 80 percent of battery capacity in under 18 minutes at 350-kW chargers. The EV6 GT features a strong body structure that utilizes 75 percent high-strength steel and ultra-high strength steel, as well as the world-first, mass-produced integrated drive axle (IDA) to enhance durability and handling, combining wheel bearings with the drive shaft to save weight.

Norwegians have tested EV6 GT on winter and it reached 349kms where Ioniq 5 AWD Premium reached 342.

So you can easily get 400km+ on it during summer. 21" rims take off the range quite drastically, so you can also consider 19-20" ones for the winter to get even better range.

I wouldn't know what to do with all that power. It sure is nice though.

Good practical review thank you. Just drove a Hyundai Ionic 5 top trim and it didn't make me want to sell my Santa Cruz at all. I might actually like this more exciting option if it is not too stiff for everyday driving. Saw someone paint the calipers to match the exterior color and liked it much better. Another expense is buying Winter tires and maybe rims which is a pain to always be changing but thats just what is required with a GT vehicle. Found a dealer willing to see new for $2200 more than the GT line in the US. Tempting !

i just cant with the manual seats and not cooled seats, i wish the GV60 had a constant boost mode and not 10s :(

You mentioned fraction of the cost and bang for the buck, but if you don't mention the cost how do we compare it, or know? Maybe I missed it 😔

And how about the price and availability?

Nice review. The problem with this car is that the regular EV 6 has 320 horsepower with is very satisfying. I doubt many people will want to pay extra to get overkill horsepower and lose range and have manual seats. The lime green accents are awesome and it would definitely be fun, but the loss of range is too much. My local Kia dealership had one here on discount, leading me to believe that they were having a hard time selling it.

How many sets of clubs can we get in the back without putting the rear seats down?

Would love to see you test an EV like this over the Coquihalla to Kelowna. That's my yardstick for range, lower mainland to Okanagan without stopping to recharge in Merritt. With the long downslopes before the Connector be great to see how many km regen would capture

Nice car. Have decided against a full EV for a PHEV until the charging infrastructure becomes more dependable.

This is the car I would buy for my first electric. But it really needs some kind of script on those calipers, whether it be 'KIA' or 'EV6-GT', it seems like a wasted opportunity. For this GT, it also needs a more aggressive front end, especially the lower center grille. The design seems too entry level. I also wish there would be more lowering range on the steering wheel, as it almost feels like it’s at a Bus level. Otherwise what an incredible car from KIA! And an incredible Company they have evolved into!

It has electronically controlled mechanical LSD. Electrical LSD is just braking the opposite wheel whereas the mechanical is an actual LSD.

To my understanding this KIA is not eligible for $7500 fed tax credit, is that correct?

I couldn't get past the dual climate/audio buttons. If/when they fix that it'll definitely be on my next car list.

I will stick with Tesla for now for the efficiency and charging network.

Too much power and not enough range and a high price to go with it !!
Nope...

The Kia EV6 would've been really cool as just a regular hybrid or plug in hybrid. I refuse to buy into the big EV scam and it doesn't help that the EV6 and EVs in general have really expensive price tags. Too bad since the EV6 is the coolest looking car Kia makes other than the Stinger.
