In our latest episode of Marxist Voice, Labour activist and Socialist Appeal writer Joe Attard joins us to discuss Keir Starmer's dismissal of Rebecca Long-Bailey, and what this means for the fight inside the Labour Party.

Last week, Starmer crossed the Rubicon by sacking Long-Bailey from the Shadow Cabinet, based on spurious charges of anti-semitism. This is a declaration of war on the left.

Join us to discuss the ongoing battle inside the Labour Party, and how activists should get organised to fight back against this Blairite aggression.

This guy on the right is very intelligent and well-studied; his only fault is - he's a Trotskyist.
He fundamentally understands all of the broader issues, but pushing for the "Permanent Revolution" and "Worldwide Revolution" is fantastical and utopian in scope. Bringing that to be would be nearly impossible, and clinging to this idealism serves only to hold back the Left.
It is my belief that we do not need permanent revolution, but only to fell the one government that is the planet's capitalist hegemon - the United States. And we can not be naive enough to think that the capitalists are ever going to relinquish power without massive bloodshed. We have to remove them from power, and then destroy them.
Trotskyists have a real problem connecting with average working-class people because they do not take into account the hard material conditions on the ground. People do not want chaos and disorder; they do not wish to live in an agitative state, and they are not apt to be reeled in by Ultra-Leftism. One has to take into account the values and traditions that these people deem to be important, and we can not tell them that they are stupid and need re-education (even though we all know they do). We have to meet people where they are, not where we want them to be. Over time they will come around, but we have to be able to give them hope and show them that a better future is possible. We can build "socialism in one country, " and if we are able to build it within the one nation that holds the entire system up, then the rest of this system should fall ... the world over.

Starmer needs to sack all of the labour party to make it fit to lead,

have you all left the LP now? genuine question, maybe you can point out where your line on this is....
[just listening] "...John McDonnell...the Left" yet John "the Marxist" said that, with Jeremy C as Leader and him as Chancellor, for the NHS staff "the pay-freeze would be broken with an inflation-rate pay-rise" which is just more of the same tory nonsense (note the small "t")
