Which KDE Distro should you use right now (Sep 2024)? Kubuntu or Fedora KDE or Neon? Well…

Kubuntu is a distro that I slept on for too long. I installed it on my old gaming PC and it's absolutely rock solid. I think it might be my favorite Ubuntu flavor.

How about OpenSUSE? It is default to KDE and has a good experience out of the box.
sure there are some stuff to improve there but I think overall it is the best option right now.

Endeavour/Arch with Wayland, desktop only as there still isn't touchpad gesture configuration on KDE yet. Using Gnome on the laptop for that reason.

X11 is still on fedora kde. Its just not shipped by default. Someone on fedora can probably type a single terminal command.

Kubuntu 24.10 (stable release): October 10th
So it should be less than a month.
And this will be the beginners choice.

There is also KDE OS in alpha and it's super good, by KDE themselves and based on Arch

Try Tuxedo os, is ubuntu based an uses plasma6. Its also shipped with Nvidia proprietary drivers. And you can switch between x11 and wayland

Fedora KDE, Opensuse Leap KDE. Fedora feels smooth as hell. I want stability, recent updates breaks my linux mint cinnamon apps missing etc its easy as hell to fix but I want something stable as hell. I tried Fedora and Opensuse. I uninstalled KDE unneeded applications etc.

Ubuntu defaults are better, fedora you have to set up more stuff.

How can Kubuntu call itself the premier KDE distribution and it doesn’t even support Plasma 6? Why didn’t they put it in the Kubuntu 24.04.1 LTS. If Kubuntu won’t use Plasma 6 until the next LTS in 2026 they shouldn’t be the face of KDE Plasma.
