I own a transit connect. I absolutely love it. Not a single other vehicle has this much cargo room, at this great mpg. I agree its easy to form a bond with it. Its such a unique and practical vehicle

“The shifter...

Is it from the future?
Is it from the past?

We don’t know...

It’s just from the Ford parts bin.”

That is a GREAT line.

I just bought one and am in the process of converting to a mini camper. You are right, you do form a bond with it. It is fun to drive.

It has Bluetooth and below the cigarette lighter is a connector for your audio jack.

I just purchased a 2012 TC for a city service van for my plumbing company. I love it. I'm 6'4" tall and 240lbs and it's one of the first vehicles I've ever driven where I do not feel big. The high top is amazing for cargo. I wish that Ford hadn't dropped the high tops or I would buy a brand new one. As far as forming a bond, I absolutely get it. I named mine Vee Bittie.

Check out the yellow buttons on the cargo doors the doors open ALL the way open. Also there is an aux for the radio it is down below the second cigarette lighter below the ac

Used to drive a transit connect as a parts/passenger car for dropping off customers at a ford dealership years ago, the best way to describe the way they ride is like a slower minivan. Ford also effectively replaced the windstar and freestar minivans with the transit by offering it as their only 3 row sliding door vehicle post 2007.

I got lucky 2 yrs ago and found a 2013 with just 32K miles. it's a great van. All kinds of features. I think mine is fully loaded.. park sensors, backup camera, defrost mirrors, rear wipers with washers. I even found out that if the gas door is open.. you cannot slide the right door open, there is a stopper that prevents you from damaging the gas door.. pretty cool... I also found out the cruise control will not work over 83mph.. That sux.. Also the engine could be stronger, it is not designed for interstate driving. it keeps downshifting just to keep up with traffic. and forget using the cruise control if driving over 65Mph.. it'll annoy the hell out of you with the downshifting.. if the engine had about 25 or 50 more HP, it'd be an awsome vehicle.
The other thing i am disappointing with is the heater, you start the van up. the van will be up to temperature, but the heat is still luke warm after 15 min idling. anyone else have this issue ? is it the nature of this vehicle ? after about 30min. the heat is fine.. My 3 cyl Metro heats up faster..
i have now 42K on this vehicle now.. and i have started noticing it is shifting weird.. when it downshifts, it jerks or hit hard at times.. and only when downshifting. and it is totally random.. one time it might down shift fine, next it feels like i hit something or someone hits me..
again, anyone else have this issue.. ?

Too funny! My 2013 has a window stuck down so I'm looking for fix it videos. Your title caught my eye and whaddya know...your Uncle George is one of my best friends. Even lived with him in Naperville for 2 years. You were a kid. 2006-2008. Good video. Btw, I love mine. I bought it to turn it into a travel van.

I bought a 2014 two years ago with 119000 miles on it now I have 147, 000 . Three weeks later I drove from Atlanta to St Petersburg Fl a month later I drove it to Syracuse NY and again to Syracuse 3 weeks ago it’s a fantastic vehicle I’m 6’ tall and 15 hrs in the seat isn’t bad to me. Mine has the 2.5 liter w/ a 6 speed automatic.

In 2013 the dealer in KY told me the chicken story. I live part time in mine still uncustomized, front cab windows only, manual locks and windows, and I sleep in it way more than drive it. A white one. With a white bull terrier.

I purchased one about a month ago and I fell in love with it. It's perfect for us everything.

I own a 2012 transit connect since 2017 used. Been a good little van. Yeah it is a gutless wonder. Only 136 hp. (Although better than ANY Volkswagen bus with only 68 hp!). I have gotten up to 30 miles per gallon (with an awning attached!) when I kept the speed between 60-65mph driving across country. Have turned it into a nice little camper van. Holds everything I need. Plan on keeping it another two or three years.

I have an 03 connect, 1.8 tddi manual transmission and get 50 mpg.
Not impressed with the 2013 mpg. Was looking to update but after seeing this I'll give it a miss.
Mine is coverted into a micro camper using lightweight materials. I love it and virtually live in it.

i have 169 K on my 2012 - I'm impressed with the van- I like it better than my '85 Vanagon for stellar visibility- It may be geared like a Star Wars Sand Crawler- with the 135 hp 2.0 motor- but on the up side- it gets great gas milage and drives solid with nice support and comfortable front seats. Audio sounds really good due to the strategically placed rear speakers in my XLT- excellent steering response- ...and - very easy to upgrade with solar panels/ generator and RV conversion-

It took me 8000 miles to find, but it does have an Aux In. It's right below the 12V accessory outlet.

The rear doors swing out of the way when you push the yellow button on them. There are magnets on the outside of the van to hold them open.
