The “this is a parts car” made me snort. Well done!

You don’t need a new hub to replace a stud; I’ve broken plenty of them when the nut seizes. Just pop the old one out with a hammer and push in a new one for $10, then the pressure from tightening the wheel nut seats the stud in place.

Everyone in the comments seems to hate every Range Rover, so this vehicle is exactly what everyone expects. This vehicle will make everyone happy because people love to hate the Range Rover.

Fun challenge and not boring…and Roman clearly working hard to keep his grumpiness in check! Looking forward to updates on this one! I miss the days of headlight wipers!

Happy New Year to the crew at TFL. Mahalo for entertaining so many of us who love four-wheel drive rigs and off-road driving. Andy McKane, 30 December 2024, Maunaloa, Hawaii.

This poor P38 has obviously fallen into the hands of folk who can’t maintain it and even worse, those who simply don’t care. Boy she’s had a hard last few years

Dont make me come up there and fix everything over a weekend!

Well, if you buy an abused and neglected Range Rover, don't blame the factory and the car, blame the previous owners. It is still a phenomenal offroader, and when it was new, no other brand had a Traction Control even close to the Range Rover.

Park it in Union Station Sun Valley or the Civic Center in Denver with a "FOR SALE" sign and you'll double your money instantly.
They are the ultimate status symbol in those neighborhoods!
They are driven by semi-successful street pharmacists!

Tommy the mechanic, looks like a good car to learn on! You can't make it any worse. 😄 I think you should get Kase over and make it a joint fixer-up project. I can just image what he would think of this one, haha 😄

A well-sorted P38 can fetch $10k-$13k. You snagged this one for $1k, so I'd say you got a steal! The interior looks great for its age. When it comes to car auctions, things usually sell for what they're worth. Whenever I see a car or truck selling well below market value, I just expect I'll make up the difference in parts and labor between it and a well-sorted one. The only way to come out ahead is to donate your own labor to fix it. You will never be able to pay someone else's labor cost and still come out ahead.

The interior on this one looks like it's in great shape for its age. The headliner needs to be redone, but that's not uncommon for any 25-30 year-old car or truck. Sort it out, and with the miles it has on the clock, it's an $8, 000 to maybe a $10, 000 truck. So, you should have $5k-7kish of a parts budget to play with before you get into the red. Or you can go all the way and not worry about its flip price, and you'll have a pretty cool truck that's getting harder to find because people just aren't willing to keep them up.

I'm lucky to live in such a rural county that we don't have emissions standards. I'd hate to live in a state that enforces urban emissions standards on its rural counties.

Fun stuff! I don't want to start a Land Cruiser vs Range Rover thing, but my 2006 LC with over 200k miles looks almost new compared to your RR with just 160k miles! Everything works on my old LC, the carpets, leather, headliner are all still in great condition and the V8 runs perfectly (brakes work great too, but I needed to replace my ABS controller thing to be fair). Your Range Rover and my Land Cruiser are pretty much the same generation but the differences in longevity and quality are staggering. Happy New Year guys!

Roman, I did watch the original video . . . You were the one who kept upping the bid even when Tommy was saying that it wasn't worth it.

In NY when the car is 25 years old it doesn't need to pass emissions! My 2000 Disco 2 is good to go in two days!!! Only 3 years left till my 2003 Disco 2 can pass lol!

My friend from England bought a new range rover in 2000 or so, he said that it reminded him of home, beautiful car and interior but was completely gutless and would regularly blow head gasket,

I know some people who have passed emissions with a bad SAI pump by clearing the check engine light after the car is already warm, and then taken it on a drive to pass all of the readiness checks and then passed emissions while the car is still warm. Secondary air injection only runs for the first 30 seconds or so on a cold start… so don’t let it cool down

A terrible financial decision for Roman is a great video series for everyone else 🤣
