I think the Mom was just projecting her own insecurities and shame (that she got from her own mother) onto the daughter. Doesn't at all excuse the starving, belittling or even pulling a knife on the daughter.
But unfortunately this kind of projection can have devastating consequences.

That's how eating disorders start with people being nasty about your appearance this is worse because it's her mum doing the bullying ☹️

You can't starve the weight off. She will get bigger by skipping meals like that. She needs to go to jail, threatening to cut the child is abuse...

The sad girl need to do what she loves to do!!!! That girl had an angel by her side!!! The angel was great dad!!! Awwww that girl has the best nicest parent ever!!!

I’m so glad that she called her dad and that he came to see about her. I think that he should have taken his daughter to stay with him for a while and insist that his ex-wife go get some therapy. The mother definitely had problems. Thanks for highlighting this issue.

Every single time I see something like this it reminds me of how lucky I am to have such a wonderful mum. She's always been awesome. That's why I give her a foot massage every morning. To pamper her as her arthritis gets worse.

Normally as a parent, you want your child to get the life you never got, not the other way around.

I would if I become a father let my kids do things my parents never allowed me to do when I was a kid

I think the most important thing is a balanced diet and good exercise and feeling healthy and not let anyone bring you down because of your apperance
