Rancho Palos Verdes Reservoir is also empty and out of service. They spent $35-$45 million to refurbish, add a cover and fill it in 2019 and then put it out of service afterwards. What a waste of MILLIONS! This need’s investigated!

The last time the LADWP Board of Commissioners held a meeting was on Dec. 10, 2024 (viewable on the LADWP Board of Water & Power Commissioners channel on YouTube) and Quiñones was no-show because of a trip to Washington D.C. They’ve not held another meeting since then and canceled the meeting set for today. I’m guessing their next meeting (January 28th) will be about congratulating each other on the great job they’ve done so far for the environment and the people of Los Angeles. 🙄

So someone making $750k a year in an area prone to dry high winds and fires wasn’t able to plan ahead? You sure she didn’t get the big salary to turn a blind eye and allow this to happen?

In other words "We didn't plan for this type of situation"

It’s funny they were dumping reservoirs because they were full a year ago 😂 even LA is too broke for LA

3 large water tanks (reservoirs?) about 1 million gallons each sounds ridiculously small (without knowing how the system works) given the large homes, commercial buildings and brush in the area. Has she ever heard of something called booster fire pumps?
The real question that should be asked, "was a proper risk assessment ever done?"
If LA needs a real Water Engineer to fix this, I am available.

We all paid for ca to prepare for these fires and this happens

Have the hydrants been flushed recently ? Hydrants should be flushed once per year . At most two years.

Uh really! How close are y'all to the ocean!? I get it the salinity of ocean water can damage the holding tanks and pumps but we are talking about immediate use not storing the water in the trucks. Facial expressions of the sign language lady says it all!
