Good job, people who don't understand economics will blame the Minister. The USA and Europe depend on Chinese low cost manufacturing, as well as the rest of the developing world, they are not stupid. Finally we have a first world minister who gets it. I know that some local producers don't like Chinese competition such as Temu and Shein. But competition is good for the majority and consumers.

Being a developing country with an economy + industry on rickety legs, asks for leaders with a balanced vision for the future.
We are part of international trade + moving to its perphery comes with consequences that will solve very little. No one is going to beg us to stay on board - we either stand our ground or we loose - too many countries with rare minerals to fill our space. Enough harbors along the African coast to take business away from Durban, Cape Town + R'bay. The Cape Sea Route is not the be all of international trade anymore.
Time to strategise with a capital S. Its not only about surviving today but also abt tomorrow, next month + in 20 yrs time.
Singapore with no minerals lifted itself out of poverty into prosperity, from a dump no one wanted a couple of yrs ago. If they can do it, SA can too.

No no this is bad, we sent Africans back home but invite Chinese? Why don't we open all the abundant factories in the country and let our own people run it? We have a lot of talent in the our country...bad decision
