Good info! Thx. Back when I was building clubs for family and friends I have to say about the spinning/purring the shafts we used to plug the butt end with a cork and the other end with a tee and spin and float it in the bathtub. LOL Learned that at a Golfworks class in Newark Oh. Like us duffers could tell the difference!

Very practical, useful and honest advice. Golf club fitters are incented to sell golf clubs. I was fortunate to get fitted by a guy who refused to sell me a new driver (although I bought everything in else in the bag!) because my gamer driver exceeded the performance of everything else we tried.

Good info. When fit I keept looking on the damn monitor to se the speed and smash. I was trying to hit harder to get the speed up. After a while, the fitter turned the monitor off, so i could focus on my swing. That worked out great. My gaps turned out great from my iron into hybrid and woods. Using Arcoss to monitor my gap.

I really don't want to see the numbers until later. I start trying to better the numbers every swing instead of my normal relaxed swing, I swing for the fences.

This is awesome and should also go to anyone using a system like top tracer when trying to gauge club distances. Just hit your 10 shots and then check. Don’t do it after every shot!

Strongly considering getting my first fitting. I've been playing off an on most of my life. At my best I averaged 85/86 on 18. I am not a low 90s golfer most of the time. My clubs were off the shelf...19yrs ago. Nike NDS Irons, Nike Ignite 9, Nike Sasquatch 3/5w, and some random super cheap wedges. I am thinking of getting a whole new bag. Was going to go to an Edwin Watts and testing out ping, titleist, taylormade, callaway etc to see what works and feels best. recommendations

I think irons should only be fit on grass. The mats are too forgiving on fat shots. That is one reason so many people don't improve after fittings. The way the head interacts on the ground is vital.

Fitting for a ball is very important too!

Try and take your gamer ball to a fitting.

And a few for your driver at the end of the fitting.

I have never been fitted for clubs, just bought and go. How do you know when to go get fitted for clubs?

😪😪😪they just got me a few days ago on the shaft puring. Ithought about opting out too. Changing my 921 tour's from PX LZ'S 6.0 to Modus 120 stiff.

If spining were really that important, then you'd have to re-tip your adjustable head club shafts every time you adjusted the head...

at 5:23 some of us are Amateurs!, we are not aeronautical engineers, so all this statistical info just confounds us, we just want the basic physics, speed and distance!!, thats what we understand, so if this is wrong, do a video explaining the ballistics of golf to us, so we know when we pick an iron/ driver what it's doing, show us how a ball flies, and what all that data means in simple terms.

I would suggest to not answer any questions about your current setup and numbers. Alot of fitters are just sales people.

Fittings cost time and money. Never analyze during the fitting. Get through all your swings through all manufacturers and models you wanna try out asap. Analyze after the fitting.

If you are not swinging well, don't bother going for a fitting!

I’ve been fitted TWICE (once for a driver, and another time for irons),
and both didn’t take (for me).

I don’t know if I had a bad fitter, I didn’t make enough swings, or I just had a bad day and didn’t have my “A” game,
… or maybe my swing is just NOT consistent enough.

For my driver, it was at a golf retail store at the end of the season. I played the driver for a year and a half, gave up on it and gave it to my son (who crushed it).

For the irons, it was at a demo days in Florida during the off season by a representative of the club manufacturer. Again, after about a year and a half, I gave up on them and donated them to a friend of mine (who IMHO they fit better).

As a result, I have a bad taste in my mouth regarding FITTING. I do better (with the knowledge from your channel) fitting myself.

Oh, and I was told that expression is,
“Hold your finish
… until the ball lands”

Good stuff, AJ 👍🏻
