This was my first foray in to acryl gouache and I remember thinking something was wrong with the paint at first. I put them away and haven't looked at them for several years. I recently took them out again and I am loving them! I work primarily with mixed media - laying soft color pencil over this and dry brush techniques makes the work look like it was done in oil pastel effortlessly. I wish it wasn't so rare and expensive where I live.

One of the best reviews so far of the japanesque colors. I'm interested in these paints and I hope they'll be available in the future, and that they are not a limited edition set.

Thanks a lot for this informative video! I don't own the set that you have, but I have bought Japanesque colour tubes individually. And actually they make me rather angry :'D. I have the 24 set of vibrant colours and I love them, I really enjoy how opaque they are and how nicely they flow. So I ordered my japanesque colours online because I have found these muted colours gorgeous and I was so happy about them. Until I have tried them out. Actually I have no idea how to make them even. I am unable to solve the small chalky particles no matter how much water I use and how hard I try to mix them. I thought my ones very expired or something, but as I see this how they are... I have used different type of papers, different brushes and Turner's own acrylic gouache retarder which is also a solvent. I am very disappointed, because I use gouache to scan my artwork and these paints with the grainy texture just looks very ugly while scanned. If you have figured out any way to work with it more nicely please tell me the secret. :)
