How to record your program output & ISO recording at up to 70mb/s on the Blackmagic ATEM MINI PRO ISO. I also talk about what write speed your SSD or hard drive will need for recording. Check the link below for the SSD I recommend using.

Hey ya'll, so I say megabytes quite a lot in this video, but I actually mean megabits (which are 1/8th of a megabytes). So each Hyperdeck High recording is up to 70mb/s (megabits), and so you'll want to make sure the write speed of your drive is capable of doing 400 mb/s (or at least 50MB/s aka megabytes). Sorry for any confusion caused... I feel like a right donut for getting me megabits and megabytes mixed :)

I got the ISO after watching your videos. Live streaming a wedding this time next week. Exciting times thanks so much for your help and high quality info.

Alex thanks for the great explanation. Really glad to hear that the ISOs are recording at top quality in the individual inputs.

I've searched an hour for this info about PGM and stream being tied together or not, THANK YOU! Great info.

This video answered a lot of my "newbie" questions. Thank you for putting it together!

I've subscribed more for Alex's hair journey than for ATEM info.

My heart skipped a beat where i have to film 5 hours worth of content, so when i done the calculations i thought i'd need 7.2 TB of storage data - Turns out i only need 0.8 TB 🤣🤣🤣Thanks for the video though, this really helped! i've subbed to your channel, keep up the good work!

Great video. If anyone wants to purchase it’s now available in stock at Adorama and Coremicro.

During the presentation Grant said something like « You get 4 ISO recordings in Hyperdeck quality, it’s basically 4 Hyperdecks built into this thing »
Thanks for clarifying it though!

Now I want one even more :D

Can you choose to only record one source, or do you have to record all four?

Great info thanks for this! Makes not being able to set the program record higher than the stream ok. Surprised BM didn’t emphasize this in the release video.

thanks for you fast reaction video :) The ISO is great but it is a financial rather step up. First I doubted between mini and mini pro. Then between mini-pro and pro-iso. But then the other Black magic video switcher are getting in range. I have to say, Black Magic did a fabulous job with their range of products and pricing. I decided to go for mini pro which I ordered today. I have to say you helped me a lot to decide. I watched a lot of videos about the Atems to come to a conclusion but your videos helped most. I did not chose Atem Mini because I do not own a computer that can easely switch 4 captures in + stream at 1080p using OBS. I would need a much more powerfull computer. I did not chose the ISO becasue it is another big price step up and would also require buying extra SSD drives while all my camera's can record while giving cleam hdmi out. So for me best choice is the Atem mini Pro which I ordered today together with 2 black magic hdmi to sdi and sdi to hdmi converters to get at least one camera much further away. Still doubting about what cable to buy. I want to cross 30 meters. Price difference in cables is huge. Thank you for your work Alex

2:36 I think it's because it is understood that the ISO would be the max quality setting.

So if all you're doing is recording footage to the SSD (sort of to get a rough cut of an event/presentation video), do you still need a laptop and the ATEM software?

Looking to try this with my churches sermon recordings. We're not live streaming right now, but it would be nice to basically live edit the sermon recording, and fine tune it later before uploading.

Thank you for the post sir! Always informative. SanDisk makes a faster version :) SanDisk 1TB Extreme PRO Portable External SSD - Up to 1050MB/s - USB-C, USB 3.1 Which would actually be fast enough to edit from directly in a pinch.

I've really been enjoying the ATEM Mini videos as I learn the Mini Pro! Your videos and these products has given me a lot to do while live events are still on hold.

Have you tried going USB-C out of the ATEM to HDMI or do you always need a computer to see that "webcam"/"USB out" output?

I would also love to see a video on the Streaming Bridge product. Specifically, could one ATEM Mini Pro stream to multiple Streaming Bridges at the same time? Keep up the great videos!
