backstory: maddie had always been the adventurous type, the one who took risks and lived life on the edge. It was a part of what made her so much to be fun around, and why her friends—jj, john b, kiara, sarah, cleo, and pope—always loved having her along for the ride. but sometimes, being fearless cam with consequences.

it all started on a sunday afternoon, when the crew except for sarah and cleo decided to take a trip to the cliffs for some cliff diving. The sun was high, casting a golden glow over the ocean below, and the air was thick with anticipation. jj was the first to jump, of course. he always was. his carefree laugh echoed off the rocks as he disappeared into the water below. maddie watched from the top, heart racing, wondering if she could do it too.

“You in, Maddie?” Kiara asked, her voice mixed with encouragement and concern.

maddie smiled, shrugging off any doubt. “Yeah, why not?” She tossed her hair back and took a step toward the edge. maddie feeling the familiar rush of anticipation, stepped forward again to join jj below, but before she could take the leap, kiara’s voice interrupted her.

“Maddie, wait!” Kiara called out, her hand reaching out instinctively as she moved closer.

maddie looked back, confused. “What’s wrong, Kie?”

kiara was visibly nervous now her eyes wide as she bit her lip. “I dont know. I just ___”

before kiara could finish her thought, she stumbled. her foot caught on the uneven ground, and without meaning to, she lunged forward. her hand, which had been reaching out for maddie, made contact with her shoulder. it was a reflextive push, a split second loss of balance that sent maddie teetering on the edge of the cliff.

“Maddie!” John B shouted in horror as her friend staggered.

time seemed to freeze. maddie’s feet slipped out from under her as she lost her balance completely, and before she could even register what was happening, she was falling.

she screamed at the top of her lungs as she plunged to the water below…

kiara’s eyes widened in horror as she realized what she had done.

maddie’s heart was pounding as she was falling, the world around her spinning. time seemed to stretch out. the wind whooshed past her ears, and the terrifying realization of what was happening took hold. then with a harsh splash she hit the water below.

for a moment, everything was a blur of bubbles and disorienting motion. her body surged upwards, but she felt something strange—a pain in her side, her head spinning. her breaths came in ragged gasps as she struggled to stay afloat. maddie felt her strength slipping away as she slowly closed her eyes started drowning.

AT THE HOSPITAL

when maddie finally woke up, she was groggy, her head pounding. she heard voiced arguing in the background but couldn’t fully make out what they were yelling about. maddie looked around the sterile room, her friend’s faces blurry in her vision. kiara was the first to notice.

“Maddie, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to push you. I… I just… I don’t know what happened.”

maddie blinked, trying to process her surroundings. then her lips curled into a small smile, though it was weak.

“Its okay, Kiara. Im okay, ” she murmured, though her voice is strained.

after a couple of seconds, pope finally said something. “Maddie. She did it on purpose..”

She froze as she looked over at Kiara. Something in Kiara’s face didn’t sit right with her.

kiara was looking down at her hands avoiding contact. “You fell… you fell, ” Kiara said slowly. “You lost your balance. It was an accident, Maddie. Thats all.”

POV: Me in the commons waiting for someone to make a part two

I would like to create a Backstory/Part 2: 
(It starts off a bit slow but it picks up I promise. Just stick with it)

Backstory: While rescuing Sarah, the Pogues got in the boat and sped off because they were getting shot at. Sarah didn't want to leave with ought you but you were nowhere in sight. Some crew members had actually gotten to you and locked you in a room. Later Rafe and some of the crew abused you while asking for information about the Pogues. One night you managed to knock out the guy bringing you food. You snuck away to find a life boat. As you were getting in you saw Rafe running on the boat towards the ladder. You immediately take off. Then Rafe starts shooting. Three bullets make contact, one on your left shoulder, one on your right calf, and one near the middle of your back. None caused immediate fatality but you needed to stop the bleeding. One of the bullets also made contact with the boat. Although you didn't notice, but the boat was sinking at an extremely slow rate. You manage to get far enough away to where you can't see the Coastal Venture. You also change courses a couple times just to make sure You cover your bullet wounds by ripping pieces of clothes wincing with every rip. Sadly the boat is now starting to sink at an alarming rate. You grab a life jacket and the flare box. Soon the boat is fully submerged and you are floating holding the flare box over your head with your right arm. You start to sob because you know it's only a matter of time before the wounds get infected or start bleeding out. You start to have a panic attack worrying about all the ways you could die in just a matter of minutes. Suddenly an airplane starts to fly overhead. It looks commercial. But you still quickly grab a flare trying not to get it wet but struggling from the pain in your arm. You manage to shoot one into the sky. You shoot the second one just to be sure. In what seems like hours coast guard boats start showing up. You start crying again. They help you into the boat and a doctor starts talking to you. You nod your head and black out.

You wake up in what looks like a hospital room. You're in the same clothes you were in.

Nurse *In Mexican Accent*: Good your awake!
You *In British Accent*: What? Where am I? Why do I sound like this? WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON!?

You hear the heart monitor go up and you start feeling faint.

Nurse: Shhhh it's okay. You're in a hospital in Orlando Florida. In the United States. If your voice changed at all it was caused by brain trauma that you somehow experienced-
Y/n: Where are my friends?
Nurse *puzzled expression*: You weren't found with any friends.
Y/n: But they had to have come back for me.
Nurse: I'm sorry we found you and only you.
Y/n: Has anyone come asking for me?
Nurse: No...Are you alright?
Y/n: That's not possible. Someone is out there probably in the waiting room waiting for me.
Nurse *calmly*: I assure you, no one is out-
Y/n: Then could you please check.
Nurse: Yes I can have someone check.
Y/n: Thank you.

The nurse leaves the room. Then after 10 minutes comes back.

Nurse: Nobody is out waiting for you. The reception also has not received anyone asking here or calling to ask about you.
Y/n: Wha-
Nurse: But the doctor would like to see you.

The doctor comes in.

Doctor: Hi my name is Dr. Johnson. This here is Nurse Garcia.
Y/n: Where are my friends.
Nurse Garcia: Dr. Johnson I think the head trauma may be more severe than we originally thought. She keeps asking about these friends-
Y/n: They will come for me!
Dr. Johnson: Its most likely from the shock. I suggest a sedative. Just to prevent any outburst that can cause further injury.
Y/n: I am right here! And I don't need sedative! I need to see my friends!

The nurse grabs a needle and starts walking over.

Y/n: What are you-

She grabs your arm gently about to inject the needle. 

Y/n: STOP! I DON'T NEED SEDATIVE! 

Dr. Johnson holds you down by your arms and Nurse Garcia injects the sedative. 

Y/n: I DON'T NEED SEDAti...ve...

You wake up to Dr. Johnson and Nurse Garcia sitting over by the wall. Nurse Garcia has a clipboard in her hand. They both stand up and walk over to you.

Dr. Johnson: Are you ready to talk calmly or do you need a few?
Y/n: I- I wanna talk.
Dr. Johnson: Okay, let's start with your name.
Y/n: Um...Y/n, Y/n Y/l/n.
Dr. Johnson: Okay.

Nurse Garcia starts writing things down on the clipboard.

Dr. Johnson: How old are you?
Y/n: 16.

Nurse Garcia starts writing again.

Y/n: What is she writing?
Dr. Johnson: She's just writing your information so that we can help identify you. Then get you back to your parents.
Y/n: I wouldn't bother. I don't have parents.
Dr. Johnson: Then who was your guardian?

You stay silent.

Dr. Johnson: Can you get on line with a foster care agent? Or CPS, anything.
Nurse Garcia: Sure.

She starts to pull out a phone.

Y/n: Wait no!
Nurse Garcia: What's going on?
Y/n: Please don't call them. You don't understand. They are bad people, they'll send me back to...to...
Dr. Johnson: To where?
Y/n: The Camerons.
Nurse Garcia: What happened.
Y/n: They where-are...bad people.
Dr. Johnson: Where are you from?
Y/n: You have to promise that both of you won't call foster care or child protection services.
Dr. Johnson: We promise. Right nurse Garcia?

She nods.

Y/n: The outer banks, North Carolina.
Dr. Johnson: Holy...
Nurse Garcia: Were you trying to run away?

Dr. Johnson: What were you doing so far out?

Dr. Johnson: It's crazy I know.
Y/n: Please just help me and I'll be out of your way the second I can walk.
Nurse Garcia: This is crazy. We can't keep a patient like this with no guardian.
Dr. Johnson: No one has to know.
Nurse Garcia: Fine, I'll create a fake file.
Y/n: And please, whatever you do don't tell anyone I'm here. Unless they can confirm they know John B Routlege and Cleo Grant.
Dr. Johnson: Strange but okay.
Nurse Garcia: This is mental.

You tell them about how abusive the Camerons were except for their daughter Sarah. Then you tell them that you were trying to help a Sarah get off a boat but ended up getting stuck on it. As you were sneaking off the boat you were shot at. Dr. Johnson and Nurse Garcia explained that because of head trauma experienced you are going to have foreign accent syndrome. They told you that thankfully they were able to extract the bullets. But you it might take a couple weeks to fully recover.

Dr. Johnson: Your lucky that bullet didn't hit your spine. It came pretty close but, you got lucky.
Y/n: I'm pretty sure just me being here is lucky.

Nurse Garcia gives you a hospital gown to change into so that you can wear clean clothes. Then you go to sleep.

Nurse Garcia comes in with breakfast as you're reading the Harry Potter series for the tenth time.

Nurse Garcia: Hola! Tengo tu desayuno! (Hi! I have your breakfast!)

You eat the eggs and toast while drinking the milk as you wrap up chapter 20 of the order of the phoenix. Nurse Garcia comes in an hour later to grab the dishes.

You lean back and grab your book again as Nurse Garcia grabs your dishes.

Y/n: Did you get me more books or was that Dr. Johnson this time?
Nurse Garcia: No... Even better.

She leaves the room and you sit there smiling. Dr. Johnson and Nurse Garcia had kept you with a good supply of sweets, clothes, books, and good music. You specifically preferred Nurse Garcia's taste in books. Dr. Johnson was more of a classic literature guy. But he knew music. Any musician or band you name, he knew them.

You smile as Nurse Garcia walks through the door. But them you see who's behind her.

Your voice echoes through the sterile hospital room, raw and full of fury.

“Get the f** out!*”

The Pogues freeze in the doorway, their faces pale, their guilt written all over them. None of them dare move, but your glare could set the whole room on fire.

JJ steps forward first, his hands raised slightly in surrender. “Y/N, just let me—”

“Don’t, ” you snap, cutting him off. Your voice shakes with rage, but the pain from your wound forces you to take a shallow breath. “Don’t you dare try to explain. You left me! You all left me to die.”

Kie flinches, her lip trembling as her eyes dart to the others for support. John B’s jaw is tight, his arms crossed defensively. Even Pope, who usually has the right thing to say, stares at the floor in silence.

JJ opens his mouth again, but you don’t let him speak.

“Do you know what it felt like?” you demand, your voice rising. “Lying there on the ground, bleeding out, while Rafe stood over me with that smug look on his face? Do you know how it felt knowing I could die and none of you were there?”

“Y/N, we didn’t have a choice, ” John B finally says, his voice low but firm. “Rafe had a gun, and there were too many of them. We had to—”

“Run?” you interrupt, glaring at him. “You had to save yourselves? Fine. But don’t you dare come here acting like you care now.”

Kie steps forward hesitantly, tears streaming down her face. “We do care, Y/N. We thought we were doing the right thing, but we were wrong. We never should’ve left you.”

You laugh bitterly, shaking your head. “You think an apology is going to fix this?”

JJ finally snaps, his voice breaking through the tense air. “What do you want us to say, Y/N? That we fed up? Because we did! I fed up! I should’ve stayed, I should’ve fought, but I didn’t. And now I have to live with that. But I’m here now, and I’m not leaving again.”

His words hang in the air, and for a moment, all you can hear is the beeping of the heart monitor. Your anger burns bright, but beneath it, there’s a deep, aching hurt that refuses to be ignored.

“You don’t get to decide that, ” you say quietly, your voice trembling. “You don’t get to come back and act like everything’s fine when I almost died because of you.”

JJ’s face crumples, and he takes a step closer, his voice softer now. “I know I don’t deserve your forgiveness. None of us do. But I swear, Y/N, I’ll do whatever it takes to make it right.”

Your gaze flickers to the others. Kie’s shoulders are shaking as she silently cries, Pope looks like he’s about to be sick, and John B avoids your eyes entirely.

“I don’t know if I can ever trust you again, ” you admit, your voice breaking.

JJ kneels beside your bed, his hand hovering near yours but not quite touching. “Then let me earn it back. Please. Just… don’t shut me out.”

You look at him, at all of them, and see the guilt, the regret, the pain they’re carrying. But it doesn’t erase what they did.

“You’re going to have to prove it, ” you say, your voice firm despite the tears threatening to fall. “All of you.”

JJ nods, his jaw set with determination. “We will.”

The Pogues stand there, silent and solemn, as you turn away, staring out the window. For now, the wounds—both physical and emotional—are too fresh. But a small, flickering part of you hopes that maybe, just maybe, they’ll keep their word.
