Coming ahead of Record Store Day on August 29th 2020, when Pale Saints early-90s Japanese singles compilation 'Mrs. Dolphin' was finally released on vinyl, director Terako Terao worked with singer Ian Masters to make a video for ‘Sight of You’. Shot in the Japanese countryside, this new promo is the first official video for one of the band’s most loved songs, coming over 30 years after its original release.

This version of ‘Sight of You’ is taken from their 1989 debut EP 'Barging into the Presence of God' (bad 910), with the track being re-recorded a year later when appearing on their celebrated debut album, 'The Comforts of Madness'. This original version then appeared on 1991’s 'Mrs. Dolphin', a sought after Japanese CD compilation that rounded up all the band’s released early material.

Directed and edited by: Terako Terao
Shoot director: Xavier Senelar
Singer: Ian Masters
Elephant alien man: Elephant alien man
Shoot assistant: Minori Yonetani

Finally getting the vinyl pressing fans have long asked for, 'Mrs. Dolphin' was released as part of Record Store Day.

For this limited pressing, the artwork has been reconfigured by Timothy O’Donnell and collaborator Roy Burns III, who have based their new design on the original CD art whilst also incorporating new photography by Dominic Davies. Pressed on 140g green marbled vinyl, this new edition pays further homage to its roots as it has an obi strip for the tracklisting and comes housed in a Japanese-style mylar bag.

I know a reunion isn't on the cards, but this is good enough. Ride, Chapterhouse, The Stone Roses, Moose. Top bands. Top era

The sight of you. The sight of you makes me feel blue, I feel so blue.
The things you said. The things you said make me feel bad, my heart is sad.

This is the first Pale Saints song that I've heard on the radio, on a Brazilian indie show called Novas Tendências by DJ José Roberto Mahr (the Brazilian version of John Peel). It was the year my father died, after a long battle with cancer, this caused a huge financial debacle on my family, it was my first year at university, Brazil was in a middle of a tragic economic and political crisis, my childhood beloved friends flew away to live in Germany.... My den was my room, my vinil records and some CDs (at the time VERY expensive). I have the original "the Comforts of Madness" . It still one of my old discs that I've listen almost in a weekly basis ("The Colour of Spring", by Talk Talk; the first House of Love album, "Whirlpool", Chapterhouse; "Grace", from Jeff Buckley, "The Pink Opaque" compilation, by the Cocteau Twins and "the Sensual World", Kate Bush are the others).

Beautifully tender and emotive song. First heard it during college years (back in the day) and am still listening to it today. Some great, great bands back then… Pale Saints, MBV, House of Love, Lush, etc
