This is one of the most heartfelt Kyrie I know. The cry for Gods mercy.
I listened to this when I sat and cried to the scenes of the burning Notre Dame.
I’m so happy to be able to see Her resurrection.

I remember Notre Dame during our visit some years ago. I remember at the time that my wife, who was not a Catholic, felt greatly drawn to the statue of Our Lady. A magnificent performance and the organ is most impressive. Thanks for this excellent posting.

First played in St Sulpice when vierne was at the choir organ and Widor at the Grand Organ.

The magnificent MESSE SOLENNELLE was composed by Louis Vierne, also organist of Notre Dame in the early 1900's. He tragically passed away at the organ console playing a service.

Magnificent! But what's the deal with the choir organ, is it just recorded from an akward position or do they have some kind of temporary electronic organ there because they haven't finished the new choir organ yet?
