On 3rd of April, all aquatic animals are celebrated, and there are many! Aquatic animals may be vertebrates or invertebrates. They may breathe air or extract oxygen through gills or the skin. And they may live in either freshwater or saltwater.
These animals play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy planet and life on planet: they recycle nutrients, purify water, maintain a balanced food chain underwater, and more. However, our modern lifestyle's impact on aquatic living beings is disastrous: from plastic pollution, water contamination to overfishing, and illegal fishing, these animals face plenty of threats.
