Dialing down the flash compensation is a good tip. I find my fill is usually too bright for most shots. Good video.

You have no idea how much you helped me:) I went to phot. School, but it was when medium formats were used with Quantum flashes. With the DSRL it is really different. I experimented on my sons indoors with fill flash, one then 2 f-stops below. Then one at exposure and one stop higher than exp. And one 2 higher. Tomorrow during daylight hours I will try this too to outdoor lighting. Thank you

Is flat lighting the only alternative with flash fill?

What if the ambient is too bright and you need to go above the 1/250 sync speed? Are you using HSS?

My problems are knowing 1-which power to use for the shot and 2-where to bounce the flash. Any tips for these?

I like your video, but wonder, would it be easier to understand if you spoke of ' fill in light', rather than flash? All TV, Fashion and Movie studios use lights outdoors to lift the exposure, and I think the beginners might better understand the concept if they looked more? Flash is just a mobile extension of this technique? Good work!
