Lavi and J10 is two very different design with the only similarity be that they both have canard. Lavi (and planes like JAS39 and Rafale) have close-coupled canard which provides more lift. Planes like EF2000 and XB70 uses uncoupled canard, which provides more performance. J-10's design combines the benefit from both side, with a longer distance between the canard and the center of lift than the close coupled canard, and generating vortex providing more lift to the wings than the uncoupled canard. These are completely different aero designs.

If you have to find a reference for J-10's canard design, that would be J-9, which was also a fighter project with canard that started way back in the 60s. The project was delayed several times due to political problems back in the 80s in China but the designs were taken over to the J-10.

Saying the J-10 is based on the Lavi is speculation, there are some sources that claim this, but there isn't proof. The manufacture even says it's an original design, which China is known for copying designs and has little issue with saying so. By the same argument of "just look at it" I could say the same thing about the Euro Fighter Typhoon or the X-31.
However, look at many modern designs, delta's with canards is common and the lower air scoop is outstanding for high AOA aircraft, such as the F-16. Similar requirements cause similar solutions.

I'm a little surprised we got the J-10 without other new top tier vehicles, could be that Gaijin wanted to dedicate a path to china after the oopsies that the tech tree has had, what with the guy in charge basically killing most of it for years and stuff. Still, I expect the next path to bring us more 4+ aircraft, maybe the typhoon etc

Th J10 program was recycled from the failed j9 effort and not based on the Lavi, thats just a pop history myth

J10 predecessor, the Chengdu j9, was years before the Lavi 😂. Did the Lavi copy the j9? Go look.

J10 is not based on the Lavi, but might have been inspired in the original Mig23 prototype
