I wonder what Trent's IQ is. He's not only a highly knowledgeable scholar but also seriously smart. I haven't seen too many folks with a mind like his. He always blows my mind.🤯And I'm no dummy. (and not as humble either 😂).

Bringing up intersex/genetically abnormal people is shifting the goal posts because people who advocate gender ideology say it has nothing to do with their biology. That med student is completely conceding the point that there are men and women biologically, our species has a sex binary, which we can then categorize abnormalities based off of. Although it is still a big question because before medicine these people were getting married to the same sex due to their ignorance

I just finished your new book "Devil's Advocate, " and I thought it was such a good read! I always enjoy this type of fictional dialogue (Kreeft's "A Refutation of Moral Relativism" is another great example). I find that it really hammers in important points as conversations can be helpful mnemonically. If you're up for it, I'd love to have you on for an interview to talk about the "Meager Moral Fruits" chapters. I think it would be something that peak many people's interests, and I appreciate your thoughtful interaction with the question and bringing in the Thomistic understanding of grace perfecting nature. Either way, I just thought I'd let you know that I enjoyed the book. Merry Christmas!

St Jerome's elevation of the Talmudic Jewish tradition above the Septuagint is very bad

Regarding the woman who asked about the reliability of the apostles ‘ memory ; I think these gentlemen missed the essence of the question. I think she was asking how an apostle after 10-20 even 30 years would remember, word for word of what someone said. Not only a sentance… but pages and pages of a narrative - in this case Jesus’ - not necessarily of events. I know they were inspired by the Holy Spirit, but I think that is what she was talking about.

As someone who does lean toward Douay-Rheims bible verse, I think the idea that we should use a translation most accurate to the Tradition is a strong motivation. Its still next to impossible to read naturally though.

There are no DR onlyists. The only reason why there are people who emphasize the KJV so much, even to the point of saying it's inspired, is because they are protestants of the English tradition

7:15 if this happens, message the admin over discord and ask him to change you to spectator mode so you can get out of the collapsed rubble.

To the point on immortality, you’ve glossed over one angle with regards to other people/society at large. Your wife of 80 years is only a fleeting encounter if only you are immortal, but there is no reason to assume only you take this drug. Presumably, it would be a very common drug. So then the issue is not “I’ve already forgotten this woman I married centuries ago, ” but “what does a marriage that lasts centuries look like?” And to the issue of culture, like music, popular music will be less and less out of sync with older people as, due to more and more people living for centuries, the average age of society goes up and up and up. When there’s more people in their 320s than there are in their 20s, culture will naturally conform more to the taste of those 320-somethings.

Remember this passage about St. John? John 21:20 Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them, the one who also had leaned back against him during the supper and had said, “Lord, who is it that is going to betray you?” 21 When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about this man?” 22 Jesus said to him, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!” 23 So the saying spread abroad among the brothers that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but, “If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you?” - But what if Jesus decided that it *was* his will for John to remain alive until Jesus' return? What if John is still alive today? Where would he be and what would he be doing?

We had such a medicine (1st question). It was from the tree of life. If Adam and Eve ate of it they would have lived forever - in a state of sin with it physical limitations such a pain. God in His mercy took that fruit from them. Modern medicine will never accomplish what God has taken. Nor would it be ethical to take of something that only provides physical life forever because it would do us harm and place us in the role of God.

I would think we would not want to. We live in the valley of tears. A valley of death and pain and destruction I would think most Catholics and Christians would want to go home to God and be in his light and glory after a while your body gets tired and once you have experienced enough of life it’s loses its sparkle in a rich materialistic world. If you live in a poor no food world you can’t wait to be home with God even more 🙏🏼🕊️✝️
