Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire - DexNav Shiny Chaining Guide

This is a guide on how to chain successfully with you DexNav and increase your chances of encountering a shiny Pokemon.

Check if your chain is broken:

For this example, I'll be using a Pokemon that is encountered at level 5.

After every 5 encounters, the level 5 Pokemon should go up one level. During the 5th encounter, the Pokemon's level will be 10 levels higher than normal.

1-4 encounters - Lv. 5
5th encounter - Lv. 15
6-9 encounters - Lv. 6
10th encounter - Lv.16
11-14 encounters - Lv. 7
15th encounter - Lv. 17
16-19 encounters - Lv. 8
20th encounter - Lv. 18
21-24 encounters - Lv. 9
25th encounter - Lv. 19

and so on... until you reach your 100th chain. On your 100th chain, the Pokemon's level will reset back to 5. Which means that if you break your chain on your 100th encounter, there is no way to know. My suggestion is to be very careful on your 100th chain so that you know for sure you didn't break it.

Getting on your bike does not break your chain. When the search function doesn't work and I have to get it to work by moving a set number of steps, I get on my mach bike, hit the search function a few times while riding around in small circles so that I can get the search function working again quickly. It's just important not to get off the bike while being in range to scare the Pokemon away.

I highly recommend to start using pp restoring power when you do this. Once you get to lvl 3 it pretty much let's you chain indefinitely as long as you have enough repels.

Chaining Pokemon over time doesn't increase the chances of finding a shiny
When dexnaving for a Pokemon the chances will increase to a constant number of 1/512 doesn't matter if u have 1 or 1000 encounters the chances will always be 1/512

I'm not sure if the shiny charm helps though

This won't break your chain either:

Switching Pokemon (In- or outside battle)]
Healing Pokemon
Standing still (That is right, the events in pokemon are controlled by the steps your character takes, just make sure that you do not stand still while there is a pokemon on your dexnav because it will flee which do break your chain.)
Leveling up Pokemon (Duhhh)
Harvesting berries
Quitting dexnav (By checking the map or for example)

When you get to a chain of 40, your shiny odds stop increasing, but they will remain at a chance of 1/200 or 0.5% chance. If you have the shiny charm, these odds will will be a 3/200 (1.5/100, or 1/66.67) basically a 1.5% chance of finding a shiny. This is the HIGHEST set of shiny odds one will ever get.

I know chaining involves fighting or catching, but I saw the guy running away from Feebas continually and eventually he found a shiny after 30 escapes

When you say "stepping out of the area", do you mean the actually route or do you mean the certain grass patch area?
I also wanted to know are you going to upload the rematch of the elite four? Lastly, could you create a video of how to make a competitive team? What to look for, strength and weaknesses etc.

Thank you very much for sharing this information giancarloparimango11.  I was having difficulty with finding a shiny Ralts (at request) and I would leave the area when my DexNav would stop finding Ralts in the grass, this was breaking my chain according to you so I guess I might just close the 3DS for a half hour and then try again later?

Just want to throw this out there as a pas. I was hunting for shiny zorua and this happened to me. Be careful of npcs that move around if they step on the spot that the pokemon is in it will make it run away and brake the chain
