I've always worked on my own cars since I've been old enough to own one. The more you can do yourself, the less you can get ripped off! I've replaced brakes, rotors, batteries, alternators, radiators, serpentine belt s, light bulbs, fuses mufflers and hoses, You can't do everything, but the more you can do yourself, the more you save and you know it's done right!😁

I have a Next Door mechanic that retired and opened his own shop, he was a GM and Toyota certified Mechanic for years. He charges $85 per hour and knows what he is doing, does not drag butt and run up your bill. Sometimes He actual has more business than he wants...

I got the impact wrench. Can't wait to use it to do the brakes.

Interesting to hear about Scotty's problem about having complete tool sets at the two homes that he owns. I wish I could afford that problem. 😊

I found a three pound sledge easier to handle under a car as the one Scotty showed us wont fit easily in a wheel well when working on brakes.

So many times I seen people destroy, mess up and cause extra downtime on machines when they use impacts and drills for fasteners. They should only be used to take fasteners off not putting on or you will over tighten, strip out or break fasteners. Use a proper torque wrench on very important critical fasteners.

I always bought the official service manual for whatever vehicle I had. And I went and bought every tool they stated in the manual. Then put them aside to work specifically on that vehicle. Which a lot of times I bought separate versions of the same tool(s). I had my little 4x4 space specifically setup for working on that vehicle. Like I just did the same with an evo sportster I just purchased, but living in an apartment I bought a pack out system from Milwaukee and put everything in there. Plus a couple totes and a had a stainless steel 3x4 table from a truckstop I acquired to work on stuff.
I put their 3x8 table in my kitchen I’m redoing.

I figure the tools that are an absolute must are a good socket set with 3/8" and 1/2" adapters, high quality screwdrivers, and the longest breaker bar you can find. You use those simple tools more than anything else. Along with a good, high output flashlight. You will need that at some point.
