Chaplin considered Modern Times to be the last appearance of the Tramp character. How nice that he walked down the road, towards his future, not alone but with a wonderful partner arm in arm.

One of the most beautiful and emotional endings ever made.

Since this was supposed to be the last appearance of The Tramp character, I always found it interesting that Chaplin and Paulette Goddard (the woman in this scene) ended up marrying after they finished the movie.
From what I understand, they divorced a few years later on good terms and Chaplin would remarry. She even stayed friends with the family and supported Chaplin’s son when he got into performing himself. Goddard may not have been the woman to win Chaplin’s heart, but she walked away with The Tramp’s. There’s something poetic about that.

It's actually amazing how Charlie Chaplin could make such powerful scenes without saying a single word truly a master of his craft. I love this ending because this is how I imagine my grandparents were when they finally were reunited last year simply walking together and smiling hand in hand.

Few months ago, Modern Times was on TV, but it was only 20-minutes left of it. I decided to give it a watch, since this is a Charlie Chaplin movie, and I needed to see this! This ending is one of the best endings in an old movie I have seen. This really did not need any dialogue, since the music and the bittersweet message makes this sooo good. Thank you Chaplin 💓

The best part about this is the revelation that they have mountains ahead of them. Be positive and strong despite the challenges ahead.

I've watched the film two days ago. And it has been one of my favourite ones. That end, it's fascinating.

One of the greatest endings to a movie ever! Chaplin was a genius. And a legend.

By giving reassurance to others and bringing cheer into their lives, Chaplin channels as much heroic masculinity as possible by an actor on screen.
