Function
The socket weld flange is designed with a bore and counter bore, which creates a socket. The pipe is inserted into the flange and midway through cannot be inserted any further since this is where the smaller bore begins. The pipe schedule and the bore must match in order for the pipe to be inserted properly into the flange. The weld is made only on the outside of the flange.

Applications
Socket Weld Neck Flanges are used in pipeline applications where liquid or gas is transported from one location to another.
