Grasses in the fall: To cut back or not to cut back? As the temperatures drop and fall settles in, this is a common question. Here's a simple guide to help you decide what to do with your grasses this season:

For Softer Grasses (e.g., Blood Grass, Hakona Kloa):
* Avoid cutting them when there's any colour left as it can increase the risk of rot.
* Preserve their natural beauty by leaving them be.

Evergreen Grasses:
* Don't trim them before winter; enjoy the structure they provide during the cold months.
* In early spring, cut them back to stimulate new growth.

Taller Deciduous Grasses:
* Leave them for the birds, as they can use the seeds and even the grass as nesting material.
* Get creative and braid them if you want to add a unique touch to your garden.

So, it's not recommended, I understand that. But if a cut was done in the fall, would there be any harm?
I want to know if I possibly damaged some plants because a cut was easier than being allergic and tying it up.
