Mad props to Cruise - a clean stunt that required much preparation, precision and skill.
Given the cinematic aspect of the stunt, I wonder if CGI would have worked just as well.
The stunt in Stallone's "First Blood" was crazy dangerous - no wire - no parachute - mostly stuntman. It was a dive off a mountain cliff and relying on tree branches to break his fall.
