Good day Mzansi. The South African government has just renewed The Zimbabwean Exemption Permit dooming 178 000 South Africans who could do those non-scarce skilled jobs. To make matters worse the vast majority of the ZEP holders came into the country illegally and were rewarded with said permit.

ZEP is a temporary immigration program implemented by the South African government in 2014. The program aimed to regularize the stay of Zimbabwean nationals who were already residing in South Africa without proper permits. It provided an opportunity for eligible Zimbabwean immigrants to obtain legal documentation and be allowed to live, work, and study in South Africa for a specified period. The keyword is temporary, and it was made especially for criminals who broke SA with their first step into the country.
The renewal has met with relief from some Zimbabweans and utter disgust from some South Africans. With the highest unemployment in the world and an ever-growing list of citizens relying on grants add to that inflation South Africa is a powder keg about to explode.
