For Toronto Police Const. Myles Glazier, the service’s first openly transgender member, he says putting on his uniform every morning is nothing short of a dream come true.

“The first few months have been amazing,” Glazier told Global News on Tuesday while smiling.

But for someone who once wanted to hide who he was, he said reaching his career goal didn’t always seem possible.

“My depression and anxiety was through the roof,” he said, remembering when he wasn’t sure how to handle what he was feeling.

Assigned female at birth, the 26-year-old said he didn’t feel comfortable in his own body, grappling with his gender identity.

I dont mind the fact that he is transgender, as long he is strong enough physically and mentally strong to do a tough job like this.

This will stop being news when it is no longer ground breaking to show some support for this man simply living his authentic life defending his community. Show respect and it won’t be a big deal, ironically people having such an overreaction negativity is exactly why this kind of positive representation needs to be in the media. 🥳Props to you mate for living your truth and being BRAVER than most people sitting behind a computer screen criticizing you. Much love, the world needs more of it.

So if some one looks like a male is arrested can they declare themselves female and get a female officer to pat them down? Will the officers respect that request?

That's not news and should be private information. On top of that its a safety issue to broadcast a police officers private information all over the place. I only care if the police are treating people properly. Stop shoving these social issues in societies face.

the police can make their own decision on who they are and are not, it is not my job to say that is the wrong or right decision, I wish all the police on street to come home safe to their family, all police put their life on their line for everybody thank you very much

And this is a news outlet that had the headline 'The way you dress could impact your percieved competence study suggests'.
There was a time, not too long in the past, that every person with a brain in their head understood that looking competent makes you seem more competent.
