I have been printing on FDM or fused deposition modeling 3D printers for years now and I wanted to get my feet wet in LCD MSLA printing. SLA printers are getting more affordable, and I have the Anycubic Photon Mono 4k with me. Let's see what the advantages and disadvantages are of SLA 3D printing.

@Talking Stuff - if you want to see what the state of the print (preview) is - you can adjust the lift setting for the first couple dozen bottom layers to 60mm. YES - this means the print will take proportionately longer. Unless you 3D print a clear vat yourself, though - this workaround will raise the plate above the tray level so you can see the bottom layers being printed and ascertain the print is progressing well. If there are issues - you'll note them during the bottom layer printing stage. After the bottom layers are secured and you're sure the print is sticking - the remainder of the layers can be set to the default 4-6mm bed raising.

Thanks for the great review! This is the printer I purchased a few months ago to get into the hobby. I'm extremely pleased with it and print nearly every weekend.

I have a few comments to share. It's worth noting, the setting to detect when the cover is removed is disabled by default. One of the first things you should do is enable it in the settings.

I strongly suggest purchasing a full facemask and respirator, which are very affordable and will help prevent any exposure to uncured resin. A UV curing lamp or curing station is also a good investment, as it will cut down on the post cure time.

I have found it's not necessary to fully clean the build plate and resin vat after every print, unless your print failed. When I have a successful print, I simply remove the models from the plate, reattach, and select my next file for printing. Often I will print 3 models in a row without cleaning.
