2m30s fly-through of the powerpoint slides and videos used in my final year undergraduate physics project presentation; Animating Schrödinger's Equation, one dimensional quantum wave mechanics in action, set to some dramatic music (Carl Orff's Carmina Burana).

The music makes this equation look like "the end of the world is coming if you use this equation"

The red graphic is not the wave function, is the real part of the wave function.

Super cool animations! One can clearly see uncertainity principle in action when  tunneling takes place: Δx narrows and Δp gets wider and so extra kinetic energy is created and part of the wave packet can pass potential.

Matplotlib v0.99.1.1 was used to churn out .png images of the wavefunction and probability density at each time-step, which were then compiled with MEncoder v4.4.3 into .avi animations. A full list of software used is on one of the last slides in the video... @ 2:27 .

Interesting to see that there is partial reflection even at a downward step in potential.

This is one of my favorite videos on quantum mechanics, I'm a layman but this is beautiful stuff.... If I could study anything it would be waves!

And yes, the epic music suits😂😂😂 it takes lots of brain to imagine it like Bohr's model

I have been trying to do a similar job in Python3 with leapfrog algorithm. As less time steps as you have used is really causing me a lot of trouble. The program is executing and is never stopping to show me the result. I don't know how much time it will take to compute. Can you please tell me from t = 0 to how long t = t_final have you stepped?

Where's the imaginary part of psi?

I really like how the wave function at the boundary blows the second exponential to zero . So we have only Aexp(Kx)

Finally I solved my problem. My code is up and working. Thanks anyways for this video. I will try to extend this to higher potentials.

my quantum mechanics term final is in a few days from now. the music suits the mood.

What software for rendering animation did you use?

Great work, visualization of matter wave, especially the tunneling effect is good.

I wish ppl could transfer this to a sound

I like it. Could you somehow post the actual pp slides and perhaps some more details on used algorithms? I'm aware this isn't really anything fundamentally new, but the presentation may be useful to get quickly up to speed on making such simulations for other boundary conditions and playing around with the potentials.

Search word "cralynet", you will find similar simulator which also simulate absorption spectrum.

What is the initial wave function \psi_0?
